[Why is he calling this number again? Some odd urge had taken hold of him over the prior few days to reach this number by any means possible. Ah well, maybe discovering what this number is may help reveal why.]
Hello. My name is Richard Locke. What precisely is this number? Recently, for reasons unnecessary to divulge, this number has become one of interest for myself and--
[A sudden knocking in the background cuts him off.]
Ah, Mr. Locke?
[It's a girl from one of his classes. Thoughts of questioning the network get postponed in favor of playing the part of teacher. His voice grows a bit distant, clearly speaking to the student rather than to the phone.]
Yes, Lily, what is it?
Well, when you were in the cafeteria, you dropped this catalog thing.
[Sounds can be heard over the phone as she produces said catalog from her bag. When had that even left his grasp? Clearly this morning's cup of coffee had been too small if that getting dropped had escaped him.]
Ah, I hadn't realized I'd dropped it. Thank you.
Anytime! [Pause.] So, are you going to buy a motorcycle?
[A pause comes from Richard's end, too. Of course, she would have to notice what was in said catalog.]
No, I have no intention of doing so.
But this one right here is circled. [She points towards one.] It's a really nice looking bike, sir! You'll probably look really good on it! Ah! No, I mean...! Here!
[The catalog gets dumped on his desk before the flustered girl runs out of the classroom. Sometimes high school crushes work towards one's favor, but still... He sighs before turning his attention back to the phone.]
