12 // webcam video
[This is the first time Alex has posted to the network in his other-self's body, and he's taking his time and choosing his words carefully. His stalk eyes are in and out of the webcam's field of vision, tipping and swaying, as if he'd rather not look it straight-on with them.]
< It's Alex. The one from LCA. So. I guess I look like this now. I mean. I can still morph--shape-shift. But this is the body I end up in when I want to change back to... I guess I have to call it normal now. >
< I pulse-echoed back some rules or whatever, too. If I stay in a form other than my 'real' body for more than two hours, I'm stuck there. Like, forever. >
[He does air-quotes on 'real'; the observant will notice that this body's hands have seven fingers each. Even without a mouth, his sulky frown is probably obvious.]
< My mom and dad are. Really not fans of this. >

I... imagine they're not. Some of us really are turning into aliens, huh? Haven't seen it in person, before.
Y'all right, kid?
[He's not one of her students, but still.]
[That attempted joke sounds really lame to him, and his fur fluffs slightly.]
< I'm all right. I sort of knew it was coming from the start, when I got my first, like, body-related pulse. >
< Oh, I don't know if we've talked before. Hi. > [Have a little wave. He almost introduces himself, but remembers he just gave his name.]
Seems like a lot of people get some warning. My, uh, ex said I might turn into a four-eyed alien, myself, but I haven't gotten any memories about it. Don't know if he meant like you, but it was because of this. [She holds up a hand, clenching it into a fist that bursts into a bright green plasma-glow.]
But no, we haven't met. Sheila Go. I teach at LHS.
< It's only one-way telepathy. I can't read minds or anything. >
< And I can't do that. > [He lifts one hand and demonstrates. All closing it into a fist gets is a fuzzy blue fist.] < But I don't know, maybe some of my aliens could. >

< You OK after all that mess? >

I am. My brother is mostly unharmed, after I was able to pull him out. I myself am not hurt, though I did lose a sign that I was using as a weapon.
[Alex is skeptical.]
< You were using, like, a street sign? >

How are they handling everything? Overall.
< My parents already knew about the numbers club stuff. But I think it's hitting them pretty hard that I'm so different. >
[They're not the only ones.]
But it's great you had the courage to tellthem in the first place!
That takes a lot of guts!

< You guys didn't get hurt or anything when downtown, like, exploded into snakes? >

[He doesn't like his either, but, at least his not half blue horse.]
How are you dealing with it?
[He's just as good at blurting things out in thoughtspeak as in humanspeak, apparently.]
< Um, sorry, that was probably rude. >
< It feels really, really weird. Like being off-balance all the time. Are you all right? >
Re: [Video]
[The comment actually makes him laugh.]
"Don't worry about it. I've just been, hitting my horns against doorways I guess."
[And trying not to think about any internal changes that may have occurred. Not like he has any room to complain really.]
"Can you change back into yourself? I mean.. Your physically human self. I guess."
< Yeah, I can still change back to me. And a skunk! But I can only stay in any other body for two hours. >
< Are the horns at least useful? >

So wait.
You can go from one to the other?
[Jake looks truly interested. After a few second, he catches himself, realizing that questioning someone might be a bit callous in wake of things changing.]
Sorry i am rather new to this.
Im just wondering if thats standard for folks who echo back forms that arent exactly human.
video
< What's with the green? Are you from that soul-bond-y world? >
[He'd just say are you a troll?, only Soren said not everyone from their world was, and anyway, it seems kind of rude to spring that on someone who might be, but not know yet.]
video
I actually dont know.
I thought that most of the people on here were typing in colors and its my favorite so.
[Not most of the people, in actuality; just most of the people Jake has talked to.]
And i guess i typed in that color before?
It just feels more natural i guess.

Holy crap. You know, at this rate things are going to stop surprising me, and life's gonna get really damn boring. So, you're a shape-shifter? That's kinda cool.
[What is properly trading introductions even?]
< It is pretty cool, but it was a lot more convenient when I was usually human. >
[He makes a face, mostly by rolling his stalk eyes.]
< Were the last few days not exciting enough for you? >
[Video]
[Not that that's... much consolation.]
No that's what I mean. Between the giant godsnake and everything I'm going to get maxed out on my ability to be surprised. Eventually I'll start thinking this shit is normal and then what?
[Enjoyment of life ruined forever.]

Man. That sucks.

< Yeah. But I guess the more I get used to it, the more do-able it seems. >
< Are you OK? >
voice;
[because he hasn't noticed that]
Me? ... I'm only just now feeling back up to par. I used up a lot of energy fightin' snakes.
