[This is the first time Alex has posted to the network in his other-self's body, and he's taking his time and choosing his words carefully. His stalk eyes are in and out of the webcam's field of vision, tipping and swaying, as if he'd rather not look it straight-on with them.]

< It's Alex. The one from LCA. So. I guess I look like this now. I mean. I can still morph--shape-shift. But this is the body I end up in when I want to change back to... I guess I have to call it normal now. >

< I pulse-echoed back some rules or whatever, too. If I stay in a form other than my 'real' body for more than two hours, I'm stuck there. Like, forever. >

[He does air-quotes on 'real'; the observant will notice that this body's hands have seven fingers each. Even without a mouth, his sulky frown is probably obvious.]

< My mom and dad are. Really not fans of this. >

Heheh! It totally leveled up. It's so cool. And using it just feels so natural, you know? Like it's just part of my hand.

< Lucky. Sometimes my tail doesn't feel like it's part of me. Did you get that feeling as a pulse-echo thing? >

Mmm. Not really. [he turns the sword over in his hand, looking at it] When it changed, it just felt that way. It's kind of felt that way ever since I've been able to do the whole... make it disappear thing.

< You can make it disappear, too? Any idea how that works? >

Not a clue. [he holds the sword out for the camera and it turns pure inky black, then dissipates into black and red flame] But it's flashy.

< Magic, > [Alex concludes, gloomily. It is really cool, though.]

< It's funny. I totally didn't want to call any of this numbers stuff magic when I first found the network, and now it's the only explanation that makes sense for a lot of it. >

Yeeeee...aah. Sure. Let's go with that. It makes as much sense as anything else, right?

< It's not technology, so it must be magic. >

[He tends to disagree with the quote about the two. Magic, usually, equals something he can't do.]

[he snickers] Works for me, man. So does that mean your shiftin' is magic, too?

< Nope, technology. I know other-me's people created it. I don't remember how, though. >

Ha! Well, maybe this is some sort of weird esoteric technology, too. Who the hell knows.

< Maybe it is! But I don't think so. It's like... >

[He has to think about how to put it into words.]

< It's like some people's other selves are from fantasy worlds, and some are from scifi worlds. >

Maybe. Like, but by OUR reckonings, fantasy and sci-fi. Because if you live in a fantasy world, it ain't fantasy, right?

< Yeah, that's true. Other-me's world is just the regular world to him. But I don't think the people who remember being witches and stuff are using technology. >

Right. It's all in your perspective, I guess.

So... wait. Does that mean that all the shit that's fiction in this world might be real somewhere else? That's fuckin' deep.

< Maybe... >

[That's kind of blowing his mind.]

< Hey, maybe we're all fictional in those universes! >

This is hurting my brain. I need to stop this train of thought right here.

[Andalites don't generally do 'smart-aleck grin,' but all four of Alex's eyes are lit with as much of one as they can be.]
