(She is expecting everyone to be so jealous of her Christmas haul. It has not quite struck her that this gesture might have made ZERO SENSE.

Are you sure that is the correct spelling, and that is the name of the island as a whole and not some local name for part of it? Petra, for what it is worth, is a place in Jordan. Petra also means rock or stone I think in Latin.
