Woah hey everybody! I'm Jin Aznable, super genius, and I guess I'm a part of this secret society too. Looks like you all hit the lottery! See, I'm a robotics engineer and I'm pretty much the coolest guy. I made a mistake redesigning this surgical unit I've been working with, and the model number was... this access number! Pretty freaky. So looks like I'm also a part of whatever this is.

I work with medical robotics, and I don't really have a specialty. So I've designed prosthetics, an artificial heart, and a lot of tools for micro surgery. Lasers and stuff, pretty cool. Other than that, uh, I like giant robot stuff. And I've got a kid, but I'd rather leave her out of my cool and weird secret society thing. Ha ha. Any questions?

Yeah, well, I wasn't too worried about that until I found out my kid is messed up in this too.

I figured no one'd want to bother a 40-something engineer with some sort of dumb gang fight. How could they even know who we are, anyway?

The way people talk, it goes a ways beyond gangs.

Well, there's gotta be something big going on or else none of this stuff would happen.

I'm a little worried about... keeping my kid safe and all. But maybe by the time the danger's real and present, I'll have a way to stop it.

[Maybe I'll buy a gun, he's thinking.]

That would seem to be the case. Though, I'm not sure what to believe yet. I've seen people talk about past lives, alternate dimensions, aliens...

[She still doesn't buy that last one.]

I just want to find a way to keep my own family safe, but I can't say I have any idea where to start on that.

[Buying a gun probably isn't a terrible idea, Mr. Aznable, she just ... can't.]

Aliens, huh? That sounds pretty freaky. I guess I can buy past lives, though. I mean, I better, right?

You're just a kid, though. Don't go out and do anything crazy, all right? You'll kill your dad, I'm sure.

I guess it's not the concept of reliving someone else's life that bothers me so much as what other people end up seeing, or even what little I've seen so far.

But, yes. Of course, sir. I don't want to do anything to endanger myself. Or my sister. Mind you, we already sort of are in danger just by the nature of this, I guess... But I'm not looking to fight or anything.

Huh. I dunno why other people's stuff would bother you so much. Unless someone else you know is part of this, too. In that case I know how you feel.

Ah, I guess your sister's a part of this too, huh. Well do what you gotta do to take care of your family, right. But don't forget to still be a kid.

It's more that... Some people appear to have seen some very terrible things. I'm sort of afraid of what else I might see because of that, truthfully.

Heh, of course. I understand that. Though I'm already almost a little past that as it is.

Ah, well. That kind of stuff is always a risk, right? I guess you'll just have to take care of all that when it comes.

Are you kidding? Always keep being a kid! That's what I did. It's even better now, because I have loads more money than I used to.

And I suppose worrying over what's to come with those will accomplish nothing. It's ... probably better to be concerned about the here and now, I guess.

You're probably the only adult I've spoken with of late that's said something quite like that. If anything anyone just talks about how I'm about to enter the "real world," as if what I've been doing up until now was fake.

Yeah! That's my philosophy, anyway. Gotta keep your head up.

Yeah, well, what most adults don't tell you is that being an adult is mostly about trying to figure out how to exist in that "real world" without actually having ever changed at all.

Everybody's pretty much faking it.

Heh, that's actually kind of helpful. I appreciate that, Mr. Aznable.

...though I am sure many people would debate you to the ends of the Earth on that. Still, it's sort of a refreshing perspective.

Hey, no problem. Can't just be a genius about the one thing, after all.

They're just too insecure to admit that I'm right.

A lot of people seem too insecure to admit a lot of things in life, it seems, though. So that doesn't surprise me much.
