[After going through the network a bit Maggie is well. A touch unsettled. More than a touch, really. This is voice only since she isn't about to go showing her face off to anyone. She's booted up a voice modifier on her laptop for extra caution--though that may make it a touch difficult to differentiate between the two people speaking.]

So. This isn't the first time my friend and I have come across this thing. Personally speaking I was a little freaked out about it.

[ Kavi is not much better off. he has no issue with the extra precautions taken. they do not know what this is really all about. no reason to take further risks by revealing their identities so quickly. ]

Not to mention that everything that we've read so far is... It's a little hard to believe it's not some elaborate prank or hoax.

Given how this [What to even refer to it as] network? Is accessed, and some of the things we have read we've been able to figure out that it isn't so. So I guess what we're seeking are answers, if anyone is willing to share them.

Answers and maybe assurance that we are not losing our minds. [ chuckle. this is nerve wracking! ]

Yea that. That would be nice. [Her laugh is more just a unsure huff.]

Thank you. [He needn't go that far, and she almost tells him as much but she doesn't want to appear ungrateful or bothered by it.

She settles down in the car--a shame there isn't anything within walking distance. At least nothing in this weather. Now that they are out of the house she definitely feels like they can't talk about what they've found out but that's actually very okay right now. That's the last thing she wants to talk about for now.

So when he gets in the car she finds a related, but safer topic:]

[ but he does go that far, missy. Kavi is, for the most part, a gentleman and polite to boot.

getting in the car himself is a hassle, though. god... why can't something be closer to where they live? it is probably for the best. the temptation might be too much to handle.

settling in and starting the vehicle, Kavi gives a rather exasperated sigh and wary chuckle. oh his nephew... ]

Yes, yes that would be Karson. He's something.

[It was a bit disturbing to find someone so young was mixed up in all of this, but he was hardly the only young voice she had heard.]

Well, you weren't kidding when you said he was pretty strong when it came to his opinions. I'm pretty sure I would have been able to hear him from outside.

[Then again, Karson had seemed to bring out the same in Kavi. It had been somewhat of a shock to see that angry side of her neighbor, where for four months she had mostly seen a very calm fellow]

That is a bit of an issue, yes...

[ Kavi loves his nephew. really and truly. it's a shame that they clash like they do. secretly? Kavi blames Jack for this and the lack of manners. though, Kavi knows that Karson is a good kid. he means well, really he does. ]

He has a good heart though. I would like to think that it accounts for something.

[ he pauses, tapping his fingers on the wheel. ]

The family situation is... Tense.

It does. [In all honesty the cursing didn't bother her that much. The only reason she'd held back on saying so when Kavi was trying to get Karson to apologize was because she felt her friend wanted his nephew to learn better. Colorful language was not the most charming attribute but she had seen much worse, and despite it Karson had struck her as a good kid.

She glanced towards him when he mentioned that.]

Because of Jack? [Sorry, it had been kinda hard not to listen with you right next to her...]

That is a large part of it. I know he's the kid's father, but...

[ Kavi frowns. still the man ran off his sister. Jack is not the type he would have pegged for such a delicate and kind individual. ]

There is not a day that I don't wonder what my sister saw in that man. My sister left and though I am not entirely in on the details... I have to wonder.

[Given she isn't privy to his thoughts she can't help but wonder if this is just sibling over protectiveness. She dismisses it though--for the short time she has known Kavi he seems like a smart and fairly level-headed guy. If it was just mild irritation than yea, maybe it could be that but it's clear there is something more going on here.]

I think if a lot of people could control who they fell for, many wouldn't bother with love. But who knows, maybe she knows him in a way others don't.[It's a bit of an uncomfortable topic for several reasons, and she realizes it sounds a bit like she might be trying to defend Jack so she quickly adds:] What is so bad about him?

It's possible, I suppose.

[ or maybe his sister thought that Jack just merely had needed someone like her. hard to tell. part of it is over-protectiveness. the other part is that Jack really is an asshole. there is no doubt in Kavi's mind that Jack is just bad news all around. sure, he provides Karson with a home and stuff, but what about nurturing? that sort of thing is important too.

Maggie's right though. love is love. there is no real helping something like that. his shoulders relax and he looks a little apologetic. ]

You would just have to meet him. There are no words...

[She just gives him a small smile, letting him know there is nothing to apologize for]

That bad, huh. Well, I hope things can get better. For all of them. [Hopefully it wasn't something like how her first relationship had been]

Do you have any other siblings?

Likewise. Karson might not believe so, but I really only wish for the best. But no, there are no other siblings that I know of.

What of you? Here we are, talking about my dysfunctional family affairs and we have yet to delve into yours.

Dysfunctional family affairs? Well, lets see. I'm an only child. No brothers or sisters to speak of. My mother raised me on her own though. She insists she doesn't know how to get in contact with my father but I'm pretty sure that is a lie. [She unconsciously went to play with her earring. If it was true her mother had forgotten that much about him, she doubted she'd hold onto her half of the set so much]

As far as extended family goes I'm pretty sure most of them are still in Spain but the only ones I get to see occasionally are my grandparents.

[ the fiddling catches Kavi's eye, but he says nothing of it. he's not going to pry. ~~yet~~ ]

Spain, hmmm? Did your mother come from there or was she born here?

She came from there but the family immigrated when she was pretty young. Five years old, I think she said? I was born here--never gotten around to visiting our home. Really ought to try and save up for that one day.

Ever think about going over as a permanent resident?

Not until now, no. I loved Locke City, it's the only home I've ever known. Sure I always wanted to travel one day, but as far as homes go? I was happy here.

[But after everything they've learned maybe moving wasn't such a bad idea.]

I don't know. I'm still attached to this place.

I was only curious. Just because there's something over our heads going on doesn't mean you have to love the city any less. After all, it is more than just those that run it... The heart and soul is its people.

[She nodded at that] You're right.

What about you? Were you born in the states or outside?

Is it fortunate or unfortunate that I would call the states my birthplace?

[ grin grin. ]

[She looks at him, raising an eyebrow. Hmm, what is that grin for.]

Well, that all depends on how you like it here, no?

Hmmm. Something like that could very well hinge on the people that I meet, don't you think?

[ as it is, you're one of the only people he hangs around, girl. ]

Oh. Well, I guess it's very unfortunate then. Sorry about that.

I'm afraid I can't accept that apology. As you can see, I am still having quite a horrible time.

[ don't get him teasing, Mags. don't do it. ]

Well, you can't blame it all on me. Didn't your parents ever warn you about inviting Maggies into your house?
