Warnings: Halloween things. Power flareups. Drinking. Probably people misbehaving.

Rachel has been finishing up preparation all day. With the current condition of the city, it hasn't been easy to get everything, but it's done! Outside, the brownstone has jack-o'-lanterns glowing on the steps and stoop to welcome guests and visitors to the door.

Fake cobweb is stretched above the door and the atmosphere is right. Inside, music is playing, decorations are set, there are games to play, there are tables of food and drinks and a large bowl of Halloween candy by the door. The fun even extends to the backyard!

On the second floor, there's a room with a flatscreen TV and a big couch playing classic monster movies. Finally, there's a wet bar that she's trusting the adults to keep the kids out of.

The invitation is out, so all there is to do is wait.

Rachel has tables of all kinds of festive and spooky treats and drinks set out, but contributions from guests are always welcome! Maybe you've brought some candy, or something for the bar! Just don't try to get into the booze if you're underage, people are watching you kid.

[Like he'd promised, Bertholdt had showed up with his boyfriend despite their skin issues. Halloween was the best time for it, at least. So what if it didn't match their costumes?]

[Which, of course were from Aladdin. Of course. Somehow, Bertholdt had ended up as Jasmine, of course, and he doesn't look too happy about it. There's no wig, just a headbang, but the midriff top and the harem pants? Ryan may not be sleeping in their bed tonight. Unless they get really drunk.]

[He's already shy about his body, but the skin on his ribs and stomach is stretched pretty badly, and peeling, so it's even worse tonight. He'd wanted to do something else, but as the Resident Wet Blanket of the Nose Bros Trio, he'd rolled over and let them do what they wanted.]

[Bertholdt is trying to very subtly put a tray of sandwiches on the food table without being noticed. They also brought a case of beer, which he leans down to fit the bottles into the cooler.]

[Being 6'5" isn't subtle at all though, there's no way for him to hide.]

As promised, Brooke brought some spiced rum and flavored liqueurs with her, as well as cranberry juice for mixing. She's not saying her candy apple drink is delicious, but it's pretty great. Dressed appropriately (it's not a specific costume, of course), she'll be taking up the mantle of bartender for her own concoctions, at least for a little bit. While it might not seem remarkable that she's pouring the drinks with both arms, to anyone who knows her, it might be a pretty big deal.

So... guess who showed up in their work uniform? Yes, that's Reimu. Dressed in her shrine maiden outfit. Probably no one who actually knew her would be surprised. At least she's dressed up?

She's also eating a cupcake at the refreshments table, and looking around curiously at the other party goers.

Xander made his way to the the food table, dressed as this universe's variant of Slenderman. His mask was a little difficult to see out of, but he did take care not to bump in to anyone.

He brought a few sweet and savory treats that fit the theme of the party, even though he was especially proud of the mummy pastries with meat bodies inside. Each container has a list of the ingredients, just in case someone had some form of allergy.

[ Walter had to endure a lot of hand-wringing from his parents -- a Halloween party, son, really? Can't we just have a family night? -- but he's here, and he even has a costume! He's pretty new at this Halloween thing, so he just grabbed something cheap, easy and slightly generic. He didn't go for any make-up, but he did pay extra for the crappy scythe.

Presently, the scythe is propped up against the treats table as Walter lays out extra spooky cake pops. Yes, they're as delicious as they look. ]

[When Pia arrives, fashionably late, the first place she goes is to the food table. She's set down her special 'super spooky' cookies, which are actually sugar cookies with red icing that looks like blood. She probably won't be eating any, though. She hasn't much the appetite for that, lately.

It doesn't take long to get a drink, though.

She's dressed as a vampire, in a long black dress, her hair straight and her lips red. She already had the fangs lying around, after all. Now she's just waiting for her Dracula to show up.]

Shiro is a little late. He had to make sure Chris got here (on the bus...) and finish decorating a bunch of cupcakes.

But man, the extra time was worth it.

Dressed in his Ghostbuster outfit, Shiro comes in with two huge boxes of cupcakes, probably four dozen. He sets them out, and they're all little works of art, with fondant skulls, with hats, eyeballs, bats, cats... there's even some "bloody" (actually strawberry jam) cupcakes with shards of "glass" (edible sugar glass!) stuck in them.

"This is the first time I've ever done sugar work... I hope it looks ok! Oh! I made homemade caramel and raspberry mousse truffles!" he sets them out. They're not nearly as polished as the cupcakes, and most of them are a little lopsided, but they taste great.

With the chips, soda, and final costumes delivered, the Dians had achieved all their main goals. NOW, dressed in completely-unironic-and-not-related-to-anything-criminal costumes, it was time to party.

...After some punch... maybe some candy... basic stuff.

FINALLY tagging in god what a week

Look, if he's going to be spending the foreseeable future interacting with these weird network people, he should at least see what some of them look like in person. Talk to them face to face. See if some of them aren't as insufferable in real life as they are online.

Ahem. Doyle has been polite enough to bring along a small case of beer to contribute to the party's bar, because that's what you do, right? He makes a little less effort with his costume - it's just a pair of cheap plastic fangs he picked up on the way over. With his dark hair and coat, he pretty much looks like a vampire already, right?

...

It occurs to him later that there could possibly be real vampires attending tonight (if he can believe the talking pony, and wow, there's a thought no one expects to seriously consider), and in that case, would his costume be offensive?

... He'll think about that over his next sip of beer.

Suddenly the little group got kind of quiet, as everyone seemed very involved with their drinks and their private thoughts on just what might happen if they played that game...]

[Jamie is escorted by his mother all around the well-to-do part of the city for candy. He's getting a little old for Halloween but in the same respects why let the burning flame of childhood die young? Also a good note of all the violent crimes and strange things lately she keeps a close distance from his while he goes door to door.

Jamie is in a handmade 'cosplay' of his original character from his current favorite MMORPG online video game. She's a cat-girl mage.. the wig and paws where bought at Party City but the robes and hat were all made my his mom with lots of love. He modeled her after another cat-girl he really likes minus that sleazy outfit.]

Trick or Treat. [Jamie's not that brutish online bully in real life.. his voice is timid and a little broken.. Honestly he should be in bed, his mother found him just yesterday lying in bed form a vicious asthma attack. He's a little weak but seems to be recovering as they take it slow.]

Xander has been walking around as this universe's variant of Slenderman. He was taking it slow, making sure not to bump in to anyone since it was slightly difficult to see out of his mask.

Eventually, he finds a spot by his lonesome with a non-alcoholic drink. He's peeled the lower portion of the mask back so he could drink. He isn't opposed to conversation, just don't take offense if his hands start moving on their own. It was a bit of a restless habit.

Uugh, your head is killing you. What happened last night? Here's the worst part of any party--cleaning up afterwards! You aren't going to saddle Rachel with doing it all herself, are you? Take some water and Tylenol and lend a hand.

[ Unusual noises on a night like this are - usually - nothing to worry about, especially if there's already the presence of a spooky mix already on any stereos in the vicinity. Doors creaking, chains rattling, wolves howling....

The strange, squeaky chattering out beyond the bounds of the backyard, however, is quite different than anything already heard so far. High-pitched and agitated, it's actually not unlike an animal in pain, scrabbling and rustling right outside the row of houses' backyards' outer wall.

... And then the fence starts to bend, slat by slat the wood beginning to twist as if what was once solid is gradually being transfigured into snakes instead- sluggish at first, but then more agitated as the seconds tick by.

The animal-like noises increase in volume, the sound of claws against a malleable surface. Something is trying to get through to where any partygoers might still be congregating.

OOC: For people who would stick around after some others might have started heading home and/or willing to face off something pretty formidable here! Splitting up into groups is encouraged. Note that anyone interacting with the trouble here is eligible for a plot Echo! ]

You're free to come bug her of course, that is, if you're aware that it's her. Yes, there is someone at this party actually wearing a white sheet over their body in order to be a "ghost." Not only did she have to expend 0 effort on her costume, but people would probably leave her alone, too! Despite such a magnificent costume, she still manages to look extremely out of place and spends most of the night standing around awkwardly. She might occasionally venture off to grab some candy or something to drink, so you may be lucky enough to find her when she isn't attached to her brother's hip, too.]
