Strider again.
I'd like to remind all of you going into the Dead District this Sunday that this is a scouting party, not a lynch mob. We should try to capture one of these "werewolves" -- alive. We still don't know if they're animals, people, or something else, and we won't get any answers from it if it's dead.
Even if they're not sentient, we have no proof that they have killed anyone, and I've only treated three bites. Hardly cause to go in guns blazing.
I am willing to lead you through the Dead District -- I know it well, even in the dark -- but do not let yourselves be whipped up into a frenzy and do something you'll regret.

...is there anyone I know who won't turn up here eventually?
It's good to see you, as well -- this actually alleviates some of the troubling things I was wondering how to tell you.
Re: voice
Piqued my interest now, Strider. Enlighten me.

[ Please tell him you're joking. Because that is literally the dumbest fucking idea he's ever heard.
Okay, maybe not the dumbest, but it comes pretty damn close. ]

I did not, however, suggest capturing one of the mangy things for a high school biology project.

[The "werewolves" in his head aren't evil, either, but he's not saying that.]
Though I'm not going to pretend there isn't a likely connection between them and the animal-smelling people at the police station, or the animal possession before that. It may be that they DO need eliminating, but it also may be possible that they can be saved from whatever is doing this to them.
I'm going to be helping by following scent trails. I know what they smell like now. It will be good to see someone level-headed there :)

Whatever they are, they're not mindless animals. If killing them is best, I won't argue. I only ask that we DETERMINE whether or not they need to be killed BEFORE we pull the trigger.
Same to you.

And that statue is doing the same thing. Something of obviously going to happen there, if there is such a focused effort at getting people out.
I agree. Going in intending to kill when we don't know what's going on is just asking for trouble. Though I'm not sure you're ever going to get Mr. Mass to agree.

[ Pause. ]
Not ... that I don't have faith in your scouting party, I'm just curious. How're you going to get your answers?
Re: [voice | phone]
As for how to get the answers...I really don't know. But I'd like to get close enough to examine it and determine whether killinng it is really the right course of action before we take a life we don't have to.
Most werewolf legends, after all, are of transformed humans who cannot help their actions.

Not that Aaron's given him reason to think he'd be anything otherwise, but still. Subduing a creature—werewolf, regular wolf, or otherwise—is certainly no mean feat, and this whole plan smacks of something that could get a little out of hand. ]
... You'll be careful?
[ Pause. He doesn't really know Aaron well enough to worry-worry, but that doesn't mean he wants to see him hurt. ]
Just don't get yourself eaten. Please. [ Have a soft, humourless chuckle. ] After all, I've only just started getting to know you.

[And he's really, really hoping he doesn't have to. In twelve years, he's never actually shot to kill.]
Whatever these things are, they can't do much harm if you take out their kneecaps.
[...assuming regular bullets even work. Which he's still not sure about, Casval.]

You're the cop, right? The one who's turning crooked to go straight?

[...ahaha. Such a dubious distinction, to be The Cop.]
Yeah, that'd be me.

You know I dropped out of boot camp? Partly it's because I'm lazy and that stuff is work, but also I can't really imagine myself shooting someone. Or getting shot at, for that matter. I know that's pretty unmanly of me.

[ Just so... you know, her opinion on the matter's out there. She'd throw it at Casval too, but... at this point she dislikes the man enough that she doesn't even want to waste the time it would take to type something at him. ]
