Talk at work has been very interesting the past week, thanks to that business with the snake. I don't know which are better to listen to, the ones who try and make sense of the magic and science fiction that's become reality around here or the ones who just spin wild theories in the middle of a laboratory.

That said, has anyone gotten anything interesting out of all that chaos? I'm thinking of something left behind by the snake or whatever else came with it. It could be interesting to have a look at anything people have picked up over the past few months - some of the materials I've gotten my hands on before have added to what we know right now, though not all of them. I work over at the forensics lab so I'm experienced with analyzing certain items, and I know there are others among us with expertise in other fields as well.

And speaking of that it may be helpful to bring this back again: a list of those with specific fields of expertise to offer knowledge in and those with specific items or echoes that might be of scientific interest. It's intended as a tool to connect people whose interests overlap, though I admit it's somewhat outdated by now. Feel free to add yourself or let me know if someone's gone off the grid - I haven't been able to keep track of it all.

Of course, for everyone it's best to remain careful. That goes double right now, after last week.

[ When the recording starts, the only thing visible - aside from a few fingertips - is a photo that looks something like this. Blame his daughter for taking sneak pictures of him.

If anyone pays attention to voices on the network, this one is most definitely unfamiliar. ]

Remember this man? Those of you who have been here long enough. Surgeon at the universe hospital. His name is John. No doubt that to the general public he will eventually be thought of as either missing or dead, because he is nowhere to be found.

[ John finally lowers the photo.

He's managed to get his hands on a vest in red velvet, which he's wearing over a plain white shirt. He keeps his expression carefully leveled, with only the slightest crease on his brow to not give away how uncertain and worried he actually is. ]

For anyone who is of the habit to write down or memorise numbers, you may notice I'm using the same ones as him. That should be sufficient proof that I am, in fact, him. I don't know exactly what happened, but I got shot, and instead of dying I ... changed.

[ He shifts in his seat. Leans back, with a calm exhale. Trying to relax. ]

I'd like help with a few things.

One. I need new IDs. Driver's license included, if possible. And everything needed to create a complete new identity. I don't actually know how any of that works, so if anyone does, do please respond.

Two. I have to find a new place to stay as quickly as possible. Once I do, I'm going to need help to move my time machine. It can't get through doorways, and I can't move it. Danny, you don't happen to be able to make objects intangible too?

Three. I need a job. Does the clinic have any place for me?

Four.

[ And now there's a long pause, and the frown on his face deepens. This is the big one. ]

What do I tell my family? And my ex, the mother of my daughter? [ Sigh. ] I don't want them to think I'm dead. Though I suppose, with us being on the news, they might find it all easier to believe.

[ He turns his head away. Looks out the window. Now he really can't keep the concern off his face.

So he straightens back up, and reaches out to cut the feed. Before his composure breaks further. ]

((OOC: John is officially around the network again! If anyone would like to play with post-regen shenanigans I have an open log here, one and two IC days before this post.))

[Of all people involved in the snake fight, Rakka probably had some of the least attention. There might have been a wavy snapshot of someone shooting lightening at a snake, or a fuzzy video of a girl with what looked like a halo running through the rubble, but honestly, in comparison to everything else that was hardly as noticeable.

And honestly, she was perfectly okay with that. She never was one to really handle being in the spotlight too much. And who even knew what her parents would think if they found out their daughter was possibly an holy creature. If she could continue hiding it, that was perfectly alright.

Of all the things Rakka hadn't been looking forward to in the aftermath of the attack was the eventual return to Locke City High School. Not because of the makeup work she would assuredly have to do, but rather because there would no doubt be a lot of questions being flung around. And she wasn't wrong either. In every hall she walked through, and ever class she had, talk of the fight was always noticeable. The fact that people were talking about some numbered people she knew only made everything more nerve-racking to her. This was all real now, they didn't have to hide anymore. But what if that made things worse? She herself had gotten a few questions, though nothing that questioned her suspiciousness. For that much, she was thankful.

Around lunch time, she found a spot in the cafeteria near the side and ate her lunch slowly. The sickness that had plagued her since the end of the fight had subsided for now. Another thing she was thankful for. Hesitantly, she took out a sheet of paper from her bag and began writing.
]

So, I guess the snake fight isn't going to be forgotten anytime soon. I still cant believe that people know what's going on now.

I don't think anyone suspects me of anything. Which is okay. How're the rest of you handling being "famous" and all that?

[ The past few weeks had been... interesting, to say the least. With classes cancelled, Enjolras' priorities have been directed to helping those in need. All of his time has been spent towards this. First in rescue efforts, and then in relief and aid. In all of the excitement, he'd nearly forgotten about the numbers. But with everything dying down, well... no time like the present, right? So he taps the numbers into the web address on his laptop, and waits to see what will happen. It's a bit of a surprise when the blue light flips on, signalling that of all things- the camera is on. Well, no matter. He relaxes his features, but still manages to look stony faced and overly serious. When he speaks, it is with an obvious French accent, but he enunciates clearly. ]

Fellow citizens, no doubt you are all familiar with the recent events that this fair city has suffered. As I am sure you know, recent efforts to provide aid to those whose homes and lives have been affected by this-

[ He pauses, because the whole thing still feels a little surreal. A giant pink snake? Really? But no matter, he must call it what it is. ]

-serpent's rampage. Volunteering continues in various parts in the city, however there are those of you who I do not doubt could do more to aid your fellow man. Give what you can, there are still those who suffer exposure. We do not have enough blankets, or food. To those of you whose homes have been spared consider what you have, and what you can part with. Government aid has been lacking, and while it exists it where I have witnessed it has been handled poorly- to put it mildly. Your American leaders are focusing so much upon the act of covering this up, of creating silence that in turn people are being cast aside and forgotten.

The shelter that has been created within the stadium is accepting donations of food, clothing, blankets, toys and of course- money. Should you have anything to contribute you can go directly there, or you can call my own number, and I would be happy to arrange a pick up of goods. We are also always in search of more volunteers, and should you wish to donate your time you need only come to the stadium and ask for Enjolras.

[ He pauses again, and then realizes that there's something really obvious that he should probably add. ]

Thank you.

[ It takes him a moment to figure out how- but he manages to figure it out, and the feed ends. ]

People are annoying enough without having to hear every single thing they're whispering about.

[Julian didn't plan on having to deal with snake attacks and getting super hearing back this week. His voice shows he obviously isn't a very happy camper right now, and it's equal parts cranky and demanding.]

I have earplugs but it's not like I can use those all the time. Someone tell me how to make it better.

[ He's been avoiding the Network a bit, with the incredible build up of work since the attack, as well as trying to clear out his cabin of stragglers. That and, well, a series of unpleasant echoes. Needless to say now that he's gotten back onto the thing, he isn't going to be on video. Not with the fact that he doesn't look nearly as tired or old as he is and that his ears have pointed. No, we'll stick with text. ]

Some of you might have seen my interview on the news, but I feel I'm somewhat obligated to share a segment of this with our unwillingly bonded...let's say subgroup. With the destruction of a good deal of the business district, Rain Enterprises will be contributing heavily to the rebuilding effort. We don't want to see the new buildings that go up be anything but environmentally sustainable and functional. The plans for the cleaning and rebuilding effort have already been worked out and are already underway, and we are organizing a volunteer effort to assist in various ways. If any of the volunteers are numbered, perhaps any left behind paraphernalia in the rubble can be disposed of discreetly. As we will be working with Thundercorp (and not by first choice mind you), this discretion might be even more valuable.

If you're interested in volunteering, email [ insert email here ]. She is responsible for organizing that effort.

[Suddenly a little old lady wearing an amazingly elaborate hat is waving at you. Those of you new to the network, you might have seen her before from that interview about the police sex scandal. Behind her a buff, bearded blond man is doing some sort of interpretive dance while dressed in bee-stripes.]

Hello dears! I'm just popping in to say that the Curry family is doing all right! More than all right! The rest of the family knows we're superheroes now, but they're coming around to it. Well, most of them. I'm sure Artie's brother Sully will eventually.

Anyhow! I just thought everyone should know that when we got back to Artie's apartment after the fight we found scripts and costumes for a play! It's called The Death Rains of Swansea and I think it's by the other Ivy and Mr Tunstell and it's very lovely! In fact, Artie and I want to put it on as a show! We're going to need actors though! And people to work backstage.

It's a beautiful, touching love story about the tragic love between a vampire queen and an alpha werewolf! Artie's already playing the hero, of course, but we need the leading lady--I'm a bit too old for these ingenue parts--and a villain and of course a lot of people to play the other vampires and werewolves.

Anyhow, we'll hold auditions next weekend. That ought to be long enough time to find a theatre we can do the show in. Oh! Mr Lyall, if you can see this, why don't you ask if the school will let us use theirs.
