hawaiianheir: (to cover your eyes)

[Hello, network. Welcome to an ex-delinquent sitting on a couch with his webcam propped up somewhere a ways away. He seems to at least be slightly calm. This of course, is a ruse.]

Hey, yo, Numbers. How're you doing? Everything all 'olu'olu today?

[His voice betrays him, there's a very subtle shake to it. A measure of restraint as he stands up.]

You mind playing along with me for a second? There's a little skit I remember that might help me get straight to my point- [He starts to recite, from memory, as he pantomimes spinning a big wheel.]

"Wheel of Morality, turn turn turn. Tell us the lesson that we should learn."

Oh, look at that! It landed on my topic of choice! [He mock gasps at the invisible wheel, turning back around with a start to the camera. Those of you listening through headphones might be in for a shock.]

It's called MURDER IS SUPER FUCKING TERRIBLE NO MATTER WHO DOES IT.

Holy shit, guys. I get it as much as the rest of us do. The Blood Keys are seriously fucking bad news. But we can deal with them without stooping to being murderers and maniacs.

And those of you with the Blood Keys - I know you guys are on here and watching this, too. Don't think this means you get off scott free. If I see any of your pals mugging people or being shitheads, I'm not gonna hesitate to bring down the hammer on them. They won't die, but they'll probably wake up with a headache tied to a lamppost or something.

And though I might not do the same thing to the Numbers - if I see any of you pulling shit like trying to murder people, I'm not gonna stand for it either. We don't need to act like we're deserving of all the hatred the corrupted officers send our way. We should stand on the high ground while we've got a chance.

[He moves over, to lean on the side of the sofa.]

And anyone who's willing to stand with me on this issue's welcome to join, I suppose. We should probably make some counter-force for the Blood Keys that can stop them without having to turn the city into a bloodba-

[And that's the couch, practically skittering away from him as he pushes a hand against it to steady himself. It shoots to the other side of the room, about as quickly as someone had shoved it away with all their strength, which startles Mac as he starts to fall on his face.]

Ohsonuvabi-

[POOF. Mac dissipates into wisps of blue smoke. Much like the first time he displayed the ability, he reforms after a second, standing upright, somewhere between irritated and surprised. ]

...Really need to get the hang of that...

[ He shuts off the camera, ending the post. ]

[Private to Ellie]

We need to talk.

[he is just not in a good mood. he also is not going to just sit around and listen to a bunch of kids be stupid. it was one thing to protect yourself and get out of there. it's another thing to go running into the territory and start killing people. sure, they were part of a gang. sure, they had hurt people, but that did not mean that it was right to kill them back.

and he was well aware that this was a bit hypercritical of him. his own spotty pulses told him that the person he was before saw no need reason to hold back. he killed as easily as he laughed.

but still... even the other him had some common sense despite his recklessness.]

As someone already said, no matter who it is, killing is murder. Murder, if you aren't paying attention, is not something that can be handed out just cause you feel like it. Going around killing people that haven't done anything to you - yah, I know the arguments about how they are big meanies and so shut up - just cause you feel justified is not the way to do things.

Look, we are a bunch of people that have already gotten some bad press. We're freaks and outsiders and god knows what else, trying to hide what we are from the people around us. We have police trying to stop us because they've been told that we are the biggest threat to the law and order of this city.

So what do you do? You go out killing a bunch of people because they are gang-bangers and have done a couple muggings and a couple killings.

[he was trying to not let his accent get the better of him, but now he was a little too angry to hold it back. so now he sounds like someone took yakuza and tong accents and made a bastard child out of it. it's sharp, a little harsh and a lot of hard rolled Rs.] Don't you fucking realize that you're just paying right into the cops' hands by doing that? You're proving them right. You're making them point at us and say 'see? they are dangerous and they deserve whatever they get'.

Fucking idiots. You can't be a fucking hero if you're killing people because you don't like them! Heroes kill, but they kill if they have no other choice. All you're doing is making it hard to find those other choices.

[and with that, he mutters something in Japanese and ends the feed.]

[It's been about a week since Neku's almost fatal run-in with Skyler, and he's still hella suspicious. He's been looking into what information is available on the Blood Keys, and while the idea that Skyler's just a robot in his past life is plausible.... yeaaaah he's not sure he's buying that. But that might be some wishful thinking on his part. Plus, he pretty much has no proof unless he wants to tell someone what happened. Which he doesn't.

Instead, now he's focusing on the only other bit of information he's gotten off the teen, in hopes it'll explain some things. It should, considering how obsessive the guy was over it. Neku, however, is smart enough to realize that he doesn't want to get into that situation again. Luckily, he's an artist, and artists can sometimes approximate other people's handwriting. So, in order to throw the trail as far from him as possible, he posts to the network anonymously, not with his usually typed text but with a flowing, rather girly handwriting.]

Does anyone know a girl named Ari?

[Oh my god there is gross sobbing. So much gross sobbing. No seriously the biggest, hiccuping sobs for a good half a minute before he can even get a word out. He's scrubbing at his eyes and it is doing all of nothing.]

I-I don't understand what's goin' on anymore. Nothing makes any sense! I-I-I-I--

[Fuck he can't figure out how to words so after a few shuddering gasping breaths and searching blindly for his inhaler in his pockets, he shuts down video switching to text.]
