babby's first mugging on the official comm
Who: Jacuzzi and Chuck
What: The kindest Key mugging you ever did see.
When: Today-ish I guess??? In the early evening.
Where: around the Dead District.
Warnings: lots of crying. big dumb idiot children in general.
It's been a pretty slow day so far for Chuck. School, basketball practice, and then Key duty guarding the Dead District, just his usual old Wednesday routine. (Or what he expect will become his usual old Wednesday routine--this is only his second Wednesday as a Key.) It's been a little slow today, though. People haven't been coming by as often, and definitely no one's tried messing with them yet, so Chuck's little squad hasn't had much to do. They've gotten so bored, in fact, that they decided to split up and patrol nearby streets, keeping in touch with each other about anything they run into via text.
The lack of action is fine by him--he likes having the downtime after all the chaos on the weird magic network about the Keys. The last thing he wants is to be on the wrong end of a gun, or magic blast, or whatever of one of those people.
So right now, he's just checking his phone for updates from the other Keys in his group. Nothing major, just some stupid banter between friends. But he is keeping an ear and an eye out for anyone who does end up crossing into this turf. Just in case.

Which is how he ended up here. And he has realized that he probably. Shouldn't. Be here. And while most people know to look confident when they're in strange places, confidence didn't come easily to Jacuzzi in familiar environments. So the fact he's anxious is just going to be enhanced in this situation. He very obviously doesn't belong here with his hunched shoulders and worried expression and the way he is eyeing everything up like it might bite him.
It's just a bad day all around for the kid. Awful timing. Could be worse though.

He taps out a quick message via text--got someone over here, i can handle it--and then pockets his phone. He pulls up the bandanna over his mouth, which makes him look pretty damn suspicious combined with the sunglasses and the hood of his sweatshirt up. Chuck steps out, a few feet behind the kid, and calls out to him.
"Hey! What are you doing? You can't be here."

"Look, I can lead you back to a safer street, it's no big deal. I just need you to cooperate with me a little, okay?" Chuck's voice is steady and calm, to try and counter how panicked Jacuzzi sounds. He likes to start out with an easy approach, which seems especially useful right now, because he's never run into someone quite this freaked out.
Unfortunately, his attempt at being calm and soothing might be undercut just a little by the fact that with the bandanna on his face and the sunglasses at night, he's obviously a Key.

"I'm not after trouble or anything--you don't have to go out of your way, I'll be okay, I promise." His voice is squeaky (his voice is always kind of squeaky but it's really bad when he gets scared. he's just always scared) and his hands are definitely shaking because he knows what happens to people in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"It'll just be faster if you let me help you! You won't run into any other Keys around here anyway while you try to fumble your way outta here, if you stick with me!" He sighs and lets his hands down from the 'truce' position, instead just holding one out to him with the palm open. His other arm hangs loosely at his side.
"I just want a little favor--I won't hurt you or anything, I promise. Just one little thing, and I can get you outta here. Okay?"

"I'm going already, I don't need help, I promise!" His voice may have gone up an octave from where it was when it started. All he can think is 'please don't kill me please don't kill me.'

He jogs closer, starting to close him into the alleyway. However, he still has his hands open and visible, no weapons or intent to harm anywhere. He tries to get much closer, so that he can lower his voice a little.
"Look, you have to keep it down, okay? The other Keys will hear you, and they're not going to be as nice about this as I am." Then he makes his voice a little more stern, commanding. "The easiest way to get out of this is to just listen to me."

Jacuzzi jfc shut up.

"I'll make you a deal. You give me your phone, and I'll make sure you get out of here safe, guaranteed. Okay?"

He drags a hand down his face and gives the guy one more look. Chuck doesn't really want to, but orders are orders.
"Just--empty out your pockets, alright? Everything you've got in your pockets, dump 'em on the ground here right now." He's sounding more forceful about it now.

"T-that's it. I don't have anything else, really!"

"Move your hands." He doesn't wait for Jacuzzi to do any of that, though, because he just reaches with his own arm to dig into Jacuzzi's pockets. Just to make sure he wasn't holding out at all.
