To say someone is "out of your league" is only an excuse for us to give up before we try.

Probably going to be repeating what others have already told you, but what the heck. I would advice them to stop thinking in therms of "out of their league". 'Cause in my experience there's really no such thing, and if the person they're interested in thinks there is they're worth neither the time nor the effort.

And for god's sake don't tell them that you think that they're out of your league. It can get... awkward. And I speak as someone who gets told that from time to time. I don't mind them thinking I'm awesome, but I'd rather they didn't put themselves down so much, if you know what I mean.

Other than that, I would say that depends on what kind of relationship you- they already have with this other person. Are they friends? Hypothetically speaking.

That's a fair thing to say but my friend doesn't feel particularly confident about themselves. And I think they're friends, they seem to be.
