[Lyall sounds exhausted and a little pained when he comes onto the network, this afternoon.]

Well. Whoever guessed "werewolf" got it right.

Does anyone know anything about installing sturdier windows? I believe I may have broken one last night, and I'd prefer not to do that again in the future. Or indoor solid oak doors perhaps?

[And by "believe he may", he means "most defintiely did even though I don't remember it clearly". Not enough to get out, thank heavens, but even then he's not entirely sure he could have gotten very far. He doesn't remember much, just that he spent the whole time angry and in pain.

The latter part is still hanging around, obviously.]

The nose thing makes more sense now. [ Granted he sounds a little... melancholy about it, presently. It's getting easier and easier for him to pick up on the small things. ] Does it hurt?

Ah, yes. It does. Though it's better now than it was when I first woke up, so I think it will be all right in the end.

[He sounds a little embarrassed, his own self, having to explain that to another student.]

If you're sure. Did you still feel like yourself, or?

[professorwolf]

I actually don't remember much of it. Just the hurting part, and a lot of frustration. So I suppose probably not much like myself.

Maybe... it's something you'll learn how to control.

[professorwolf]

Perhaps. Given everything that's happened so far, anything is possible, but not likely to happen for a long while. Until then, I'll be doing my best to stay locked up indoors whenever there's a chance I'll change.

It was good advice when you gave it to me, but I guess it doesn't work so easily when you try to turn it around. Sorry. But um, if there's anything I can help with...

[professorwolf]

Oh.

[He gives a little chuckle.]

You're quite right, I did give you that advice... and for you, it seems to be like that, doesn't it? I won't discount it, or you, I promise. I'm just trying to keep an open mind, and prepare for the worst. If I can't control this, people are going to get hurt.

I know that. [ He knows. ] I think you can. If everything we've been told is true, I don't think this would be happening to you if you couldn't.

[professorwolf]

[Lyall is less sure about that, but he'll give Banagher the benefit of the doubt. He's an optimist, and it's endearing. And he is already more negative than usual at the moment, and he knows it.]

I certainly hope so, anyway. It'll be bad enough replacing the doors and windows without having to purchase a cage or something like. So we'll see what happens next time.

A cage? I hope it doesn't have to come down to that. Even though it was just the full moon... do you think it was because of the mines? A lot of things happened to everyone down there.

It must have been. It's the only time I can think of where something might have changed but I don't know what. And you're right, everyone else does seem to have had a change or a vision or something from that experience.

[He's really not sure that this is something that makes up for feeling useless down there.]

It's just strange, you know. For everyone to get out and figure out they've changed, somehow. All at once like that.

[ Not that he sounds ungrateful for the fact that everyone was safe and (mostly) sound, but the implications of the event were pretty unnerving. ]
