Who: Tolkien cast + extended CR (if your character knows one of the cast well they've probably been invited)
When: Late May
Where: Gabriel's flat
What: Extended family/friends meal and drinks
Despite being a second floor maisonette, Gabriel's flat was large enough to accommodate his friends and those that they had invited thanks to the open plan kitchen/living room. With a second table to supplement his own - already far too big for one man - along with extra chairs and crockery and cutlery borrowed from Thorir and Mardís, everyone would be close while they ate, but afterwards there would be more space to spread out. Chairs from the table could be moved to join the sofa and chair in front of the full length windows that made up the far wall of his flat, or extra chairs had also been placed on the spacious patio upstairs. Set over two floors, the flat is spacious, even with half of the second floor being dedicated to the patio that Gabriel has cultivated into something of a messy garden. In the centre a skylight has been turned into a fish pond, the light rippling through the living area downstairs. The second bedroom and bathroom are either side of the front door as you enter, and Gabriel's bedroom and en-suit and study are either side of the corridor to access the patio upstairs. The whole flat has a simple, modern chic to it - or at least it would if it didn't seem that each surface had at least one plant on it.
As for the meal itself, Gabriel had prepared a variety of dishes, but also asked everyone to bring something so he can be sure that everyone has at least something that they like without having to worry about the range of tastes and allergies he has to cater for. The surfaces in the kitchen area are covered in plates and dishes for people to help themselves from, and Gabriel has also done his best to offer drinks that everyone will like. There is wine, both red and white, beer, fruit juices and soda, and after dessert he'll offer coffee or tea to his guests.
The sweet scent of athelas hangs heavy in the air, in the hope that the bittersweet memory of a home that Gabriel still thinks might have been destroyed can be replaced with something more satisfying. As the evening wears on and the solar lights come on on the patio he'll prepare a second batch, but no one will be asked to leave. And when people do start to depart they'll be given left overs to take - both food and drink.

"Um, lentils are okay I guess. I haven't had them in a while though."
no subject
"Mine are better than 'okay.'" He's always liked lentils, beans, and the like. It's not a bird thing. "Three colors of lentils, carrots, celery, thyme, bayleaf, basil, my own stock. My own vegetable stock. It builds heart. I also brought cornbread. You should have some."
He'd left out the meat, but it's still a recipe he likes.
...mean XD
He turns back to Julien. "So, how's the feathers?"
no subject
Julien wrinkles his nose. "The feathers are annoying." He flicks his tail behind him and a tuft of down floats gently to the floor. "But seems like they're getting better. The models love them. How's the ears?"
no subject
"They're good. They stopped growing after a couple of days and they haven't really been a problem since... except for hiding them and stuff."
Not that he bothered with that too often.

"Are you more the hat type, or forehead bands, hairstyles, what?"
no subject
Liam casually fixes his hair over his shoulders so they're in front a bit to cover his ears.

"Are you being open about being part of the Number's Club? It's not too hard, these days. Not like when we had to watch out for the cops."

And does he trust that Liam would have noticed anyone noticing?

He's not even sure what else to say to that.

...granted he's not that observant. =/
He pauses, looking for things on the table for the Lentils that Julien had been talking about.
"I mean, if it comes up I can always say I had an accident as a kid or something, like got my head stuck in something."
no subject
The lentils are a thick stew in a pot, steaming gently.
no subject
Liam points to the lentils. "These yours?

no subject
"Well, I can't blame them for that."
He looks over at the lentils, then back at Julien. "No meat?"
no subject
He backs up a step or so and picks something up off the platter of tapas. Probably better if he doesn't hover over Liam; the kid will like the lentils, or not.
just broth or are there tiny meat peices? Also i'll be slow sob.
no subject
Julien just enjoys his tapas, using a long-handled fork he's taken to carrying because it's easier to handle and spearing a chorizo.
...probably the best meal he's had in a while.
