Who: Randall Lyall and OPEN
When: All day at the high school, plus a thread for after school with Bakura
Where: Locke High School
What: School is back in session! And Lyall is available for various things

Though the After School Numbers Club isn't technically in session until the police presence at the high school has died down, Lyall is still available if anyone needs to talk, study, or just hang out a bit after school or during breaks between classes. He has his laptop open to a "blank Word document" which is actually scrolling the network feeds all day, and he's apparently perfectly happy to get back to the daily grind.

Mostly because this way he feels less cut off from the rest of the world, compared to during winter break. Even the network doesn't make up for not seeing lots of people every day to keep an eye on them.

Lunch Break [Closed to Karl, Sheila, and Nick]

The day starts off with a surprise on Lyall's desk, which he blinks at a few times, sniffs quietly, and then greets with a little smile for what it rather obviously means. He tucks the books and things away in the shelving under his demonstration lab table, so Bakura doesn't ask after them (or anyone else, for that matter), but as soon as the bell rings for lunch and his students are gone, he heads out in search of one formerly-amnesiac not-chemistry-teacher.

Said pseudo-chemistry teacher has a similar goal in mind. After a nearly a month of not remembering anything, speaking with Lyall feels almost necessary. Karl needs to reaffirm what has to be done, namely telling the network everything. It may not be have felt necessary to do before, but it feels so now.

He scowled softly while en route to the biology teacher's classroom, said scowl being directed at himself. During this loss of memory, he had actually started a list of people displaying suspicious behavior. More innocent people could have been hurt all because they hadn't known to be cautious around him. That's unacceptable and could not be allowed to happen again.

Halfway between the two classrooms, the two met-- which didn't take long, given they were both in the science hall. Lyall stopped and offered a little smile. "Richard? I got your, uh. Gift. Merry Christmas, to you, too."

Running into Lyall certainly makes finding the other man easier. As he comes to a halt, the new glasses now on the bridge of his nose begin to slide off. He frowns briefly while pushing back into their proper place. Damn pain in the ass thing. The irritation subsides upon returning his attention back to Lyall. "Thank you. I trust the books were ones not yet in your collection?"

Sheila isn't hesitating to take Randy up on his offer. She doesn't know just how much they can cover over lunch, but it's a start. And frankly, she doesn't know where to begin. Half of the network posts seem to be absolutely loony, and if it weren't for a couple 'flashbacks' of her own, she'd write the whole lot of them off as lunatics. Or victims of some weird conspiracy.

Hell, maybe that was still true.

She slows when she sees Randall's busy. "Hey... bad time?"

There's something... off here. The sunglasses, the expression, the... smell. The smell is off, and he frowns at it. What in the world...?

Aaaaand then there's a history teacher. Lyall jumps a little, then looks sheepish. "Ah... perhaps." He glances back to Karl with raised brows. "That really depends on Richard, I suppose." And whether he really is back to "normal", though Lyall is fairly sure he is. ... even if that changed scent is a bit worrying.

Ah, judging by the expression on Lyall's face, he's noticed something off. Then again, the likelihood of his scent still being the same after all that would be rather slim. Plus, the sudden glasses screams odd, too. Any potential commentary on the changes or the like gets cut off by Shelia's approach.

Karl eyes the history teacher briefly before turning his gaze back onto Lyall. "So long as you're not opposed to Ms. Go hearing the continuation of our conversation from a while back." The underlying question there being whether or not she's a part of the Network. Someone else listening in, well, it didn't really matter as much anymore since it'd end up public information (Network-wise) soon enough.

"Whoa, okay, I have no idea what you two were talking about, but if it's a private matter, I'll just come back later?" Not that she wasn't curious, with how somber they looked. But if this was more network stuff (it really was everywhere, wasn't it?) maybe Randall would say she could stay.

"It's... a matter related to our conversation, as well, Miss Go, but it might be more confusing for you than if you waited until after school to come talk to me," Lyall said after a beat of trying to work out how he could balance both conversations at once.

Related to their talk? That'll get taken to be Network-related, unless Lyall and Shelia were just having a casual chat about potential undercover cops. Karl's gonna take a guess that, yeah, Network stuff. "Should it be related then I have no qualms with Ms. Go hearing what I've to say as long as she doesn't mind the potential confusion."

"I'll be honest, boys, I'm already confused. Anything more is just gravy, so hit me." She glances over her shoulder at the students and faculty milling about. "Somewhere a bit more private, maybe? Though it seems like half the student body is in the club." Only a slight exaggeration. Sheila's feeling a tiny bit overwhelmed - not that she'd admit it.

"Come along, then," Lyall shrugs. "Richard, your classroom, perhaps? Mine might not be entirely safe, these days." He hadn't found any bugs... but that doesn't mean they aren't there. The electronic kind could be small enough that he'd miss the changed scent, and he doesn't have super vision.

Ah, that is a good point. Just because Karl might not aware of buggings does not mean there weren't any. "Mine ought to be fine." Bug-free (hopefully) and checked every so often just in case. Karl turns his gaze over at Shelia. "Is that alright with you?"

"Hey, doesn't make a difference to me, boys. Lead on." Sheila didn't spend a lot of time in the science halls, and would be hard pressed to point out whose classroom was whose. Of course, she also didn't have a good idea of what Lyall meant by 'safe', either.

Lyall motioned for Karl to lead the way back where he'd come from, shooting Sheila an apologetic sort of smile. At least it wasn't far, and they were safely ensconced in the chemistry classroom. "I guess you'll be getting the crash course, instead of something a bit more leisurely. Sheila, Richard is on the network, as well. And he's just back from forgetting it all for a few weeks."

Unless he'd guessed wrong based on those books, in which case he'd just outed them both to a very clever agent. Oh, well.

He frowned at Karl. "Your smell has changed, Richard. What happened?"

Also, in here? The English accent is back.

Karl waits by the door so he could close it once all three of them were inside (not risking any unnecessary ears hearing their chat, after all). Hearing the accent once inside the room is actually kind of comforting after not hearing it in so long. It's like a sign that things are back to their usual abnormality.

What's unexpected is the commentary on his scent. There being any difference hadn't even crossed Karl's mind. Then again, owls probably don't smell anything like humans. Having owl genes would logically cause his scent to be different. "A side-effect of stupidity done during the time without memory of the network."

"...right. I take back what I said about confusion." Yes, definitely a headache coming on. "Smell? And since when are you a Brit, Randy? Can we back up a few dozen steps, please?" After all, she hadn't really gotten the cliffnotes about Lyall being a werewolf, let alone whatever's going on with Karl. And even if she had... well. That's a lot to digest.

Lyall sighed and turned to Sheila. "Miss Go, yes, one of the things that has come to me through this network is a British accent. The other fellow I'm seeing things and receiving things from lived in London in the eighteen hundreds, or thereabouts. He also happened to be a werewolf, so I now have a rather tremendous sense of smell and change into a wolf on the full moon. Rather unpleasant, I assure you, but I imagine that explains my increased absences this year, at least."

"I can verify that his transformation during the full moon is indeed real." Saying so just in case Sheila might find it a bit hard to swallow. Karl had gotten to help out on werewolf duty so he knows how true it is.

As far as Nick knows, Karl still doesn't remember anything about the network. But that hasn't stopped him from bringing Karl a coffee as well when he stops by to see Lyall, and today is no different. He'd gone to Lyall's classroom first, but when his friend wasn't there, he'd headed to Karl's instead.

He gives a brief knock, balancing both coffees in one hand, then opens the door. "Hey, I'm..." And then he pauses, spotting the other teacher. "Apparently interrupting a teacher conference, sorry about that."

"Ah... not exactly." Lyall winces a little, but beckons the man further inside. "Come in, Nick, please-- Miss Go, this is Nick Burkhardt, and he's one of us, as well. Nick, Sheila Go, history teacher, and relatively new addition to the group." There, introductions taken care of.

And: "Karl's back, too." Because that explains why he's talking about it semi-openly, and Nick probably needs to know before he winds up confused.

"Sheila. I'm only a 'miss' to the kids, all right?" She shakes her head, waving a little at Nick. Quite thoroughly lost. "And... where's Karl been?" As far as she knows, he hasn't been absent lately.

[flamberge]

A nod of greeting gets sent Nick's way. He owes the guy, too, for bringing coffee despite the lack of memory on Karl's part. If only promotions could be given for coffee bringing services. Geez though, this is just turning into one big old Numbers Club party.

And Karl takes that question as his cue to speak up. Least he could do help in making things a little bit clearer. "Back in the sense that I remember the Network again. For around the past month, my memory of it was gone."

[detectivetroll]

His shoulders relax a little at hearing that the other teacher is also part of this little group, and heads into the classroom, letting the door shut behind him. "Nice to meet you, and I'll just apologize ahead of time for the confusion."

His smile brightens when Karl confirms that he's back, relief obvious in his eyes, both for practical and personal reasons. But he doesn't actually say anything like that, just teases, "Good, now you won't think I'm angling for something when I show up with coffee."

"A hazard of this whole ordeal," Lyall clarifies with a sigh. "We may forget it all at any moment-- or if we go to far outside the city limits. Miss Go-- Sheila-- is new to all of this," he adds for the other men's benefit. "And before you ask, no, we aren't even certain what it's about. There are aliens, however, which mean us and possibly the world at large harm, and potentially a giant stone serpent."

He sounds apologetic, since he knows it sounds pretty crazy. "How long have you known about any of this, exactly?"
