06 | [Open] Please Come Help Kill This Monster
Who: Mort Yokugawa, the monster he accidentally created, and whoever wants to come help him stop the thing.
Where: Various places around town, with the actual fight taking place in a park somewhere.
When: Early evening, October 10.
What: Mort accidentally created a monster and needs help bringing it down. Subthreads for tracking the monster, fighting the monster, and the aftermath inside.
Warnings: Monster-fighting might get messy.
When Mort woke up that morning, he had no way of knowing that today would be the day he'd accidentally manage to create a monster. He still wasn't too sure what had happened; he'd been examining the silver medal that had appeared in his pocket while he was visiting the Towers after showing it to Asuka, a coin slot had appeared on another bit of junk someone had left on his desk earlier that day, the medal had gone into the slot and created a monster somehow, that monster had been standing there before him. It had become quite agitated at all the screaming (Mort could really yell if he had to), trashed Mort's office, and exited through a window, leaving Mort stuck with one very big problem. He hoped others on the network would be able to help him out, because even if he somehow managed to keep track of the thing, he had no way of bringing it down.
((OOC: And this is the promised log portion of Mort's monstrous misadventure, with the call to arms network post here. I am not concerned with tagging order in the least. I'd prefer to keep the actual fight with the monster contained to one thread, and I'll NPC it as necessary. Other than that, go nuts, have fun, and please wait until I get the three subthreads up before tagging.))

TRACKING
no subject
She is, however, hanging back with Dr. Yokugawa instead of going off on her own, mostly because despite her best efforts she's not remembering how to kick monster ass yet.

Soon enough, the individual from the network (along with another familiar face from the network) comes into his line of vision. Richard slows the motorcycle down and pulls on over to them. Maybe an introduction would normally take place, but he jumps straight to the point this time. "No luck in locating this creature as of yet, I take it?
no subject
When he spots the man he'd seen on the network, he changes course to meet up with him and the two he's talking to - one who Nick recognizes, and isn't surprised to see involved in stopping this.
"I haven't spotted it, either. Splitting up might give us a better chance of finding it, but I'm not sure anyone should go up against it alone."

Re: TRACKING
"... The hell?"
He picks himself up off the ground, blinking after the creature. That certainly doesn't look like anything they've been up against so far. Terrific. Really. He's about to go after it on his own -- so what if he doesn't have his sword right now? -- but then he sees a few people from the network heading down the same path. Might be best to get an idea of the situation first.
"Hey. What the hell is that thing?"

"And I guess you can handle everything?" He wasn't even going to bother trying not to sound peevish with that. "Not like we have time to argue about this anyway."

Of course that won't be the case when there is a monster on the loose. Miles hadn't checked the network yet today, so he hadn't seen the feed speaking of the monster. He does see the anklosaurus in the distance and while it definitely looks strange and makes him wonder what it could be, his next thought is that monsters aren't real and it must be some person dressed up for Halloween, a bit early, but people can be weird.
Though it is definitely running pretty fast towards him. Looks like it would be best to just get out of its path and hope it doesn't want to try and mug him in broad daylight.
[ooc: For the record, I'm cool with Edgeworth getting attacked by the monster, just no major injuries, please.]

"Get out of its way!" Mort is trying to help out as best he can, really, even if he's huffing and puffing from this run.
no subject
He definitely tries his best to get out of the way, because he really has absolutely no ability for self-defense outside of run away and knowing to carry some pepper spray. Problem is, the latter requires getting close to that thing and that isn't happening, so run away sounds like a good idea. He definitely does his best to keep as much to the other side of the sidewalk, even going right up against the side of a building to get as much out of the way as possible. Once he sees the danger he realizes he needs to make a quick decision to either run past it and duck into the parking garage now about 20 feet away, which would require jumping over a concrete wall (and he never was very athletic), or retreating and ducking in between some buildings to get out of the way.
He decides on the latter and turns to run away, not exactly smart since it puts his back to the thing, but he can move faster that way. Unfortunately, the monster likely can outrun him.

THE BATTLE
no subject
He starts to move towards a shady part of the park and glances about for any civilians that weren't part of the network. Once he was in the clear, he merges in to the shadows and travels among the ground towards the creature before sliding his way up its back. The difficult part of this plan was for him to come out of the shadows, wrap his arm around its neck, materialize the rest of himself while avoiding the spikes on it back before striking it in back of the knee. Hopefully all those hours practicing by himself and with Ravindra would pay off.
no subject
Xander's able to get an arm around its neck, but it starts swinging that mace-fist of it around wildly. The strike to its knee doesn't seem to do that much to it through its thick hide, and while it staggers, it does not fall and continues flailing everywhere.
Just to make things worse, it also releases a blast of cold mist. It's not anywhere near as strong
as the wiki link saysas it would be under ideal circumstances, but it's not unlike suddenly falling into a chilled swimming pool, minus the drenching part.]no subject
Except his timing could have been better. He was engulfed by a cold mist and his words never made it out. It was an uncomfortable sensation and the first thing that came to his mind was to conjure a flame. Instead of using one finger to snap, he tried two, hoping it would make a bigger flame. It didn't work as well as he had thought since the fire he produced from his hand was as big as a lighter's. Still, he would put it to use by targeting the creature's right shoulder blade.

What-- is that the thing they were posting about?
believe me, I know that feel
[Mort is not used to having to run this much, even if he does try to regular exercise worked into his busy schedule. The monster's now smashing a mailbox. Hopefully anyone else who sees it will think a car hit it and drove away.]
Careful--it's not very happy...

"FFffffffffow, what just...ow," was her commentary upon coming to.

Now, most people's reaction to watching an injured person would have been some measure of concern. But since the girl didn't look to have been hurt that badly and Toushirou barely knew her?
"That was pretty stupid, you know."

He wanted a cigarette, but used his replacement lighter in the fight. He was considering using his flame ability again, but he didn't want to further damage his hand. Then again, he was just waiting for someone to approach and lecture or yell at him for his actions.
no subject
"Dude," he paused to exhale a small cloud of smoke before flopping onto his back because FUCK EVERYTHING, "I don't know what you did, but that was fucking awesome."
Okay, so it wasn't much of a lecture.
