[Okay, so Harding isn't the best with this technology stuff. But. He's trying. He doesn't want someone to know this is him.]

[Because asking for help isn't manly. And asking about this is just downright embarrassing to have to do.]

So

Anyone here suddenly remember people they were

close to ?

Except they remember too. And they arent someone you know here. Someone you never met before.

What do you do?

[How do you deal with suddenly feeling emotions and a serious connection with a relative stranger?]

[L sounds a little bit breathless, but it's largely because he feels more alive than he ever has in his entire life.]

Some of you have seen reports of a missing child on the news, yes? Luke Kokiri is a 10-year-old male who has been gone since Friday.

Though abduction is a definite possibility, his grandfather, Declan, says that he ran away as recently as Halloween. He also says that he'd been spending a lot of time with his friends... but with the exception of Toushirou, Phillip, and Jamie, these friends don't seem to exist, at least not by the names his grandfather knows.

Luke's past activity on the network confirms that he's numbered, and while his family is growing worried and has hired help beyond the police, if he indeed ran away, he likely has his reasons. Should anyone encounter him, it's imperative that he's approached with caution. As pulses are varied in their effects and can alter someone's appearance or abilities significantly, there's a good chance that if he ran away, an echo is responsible. I want to find him and return him safely home, but obviously some delicacy in execution is required.

If you're reading this, Luke, we need to talk. I promise I won't out you to your family until we've discussed your options thoroughly, but you're hurting people who love you. I'm confident that we can come to a solution that can comfort your family as well as protect you.

Hello everyone. I've been having the same dream every night for the past week now, of the ground splitting open. Normally, I wouldn't bother to talk about something so mundane, but it seems I was psychic in my past life. [added “casually” like it’s an afterthought and not something she’s super pleased with] This leads me to believe that this is more than a normal dream.

In short, I think there’s going to be another earthquake. I’m not sure what to do with this information, or what we can do at all; I unfortunately don’t know any specifics, like where or when it will happen, but I can feel that this isn't just a bad dream. If anyone has any suggestions besides warning people away from high buildings, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Perhaps this question has already been answered... but. Humor me, if you will, my numbered friends.

Are there those among us who have had memories... that are similar? Or even the same? Say, perhaps, you recall the same person. Or two of you remember someone very similar -- a man with specific facial features, for example.

How... do you know if it's the same memory? Or if it's just a very close coincidence?

[He pauses. The sound of a long, heavy sigh is heard. This next question isn't easy to ask.]

And...

Are... there others... who recall being, to put it bluntly, robotic?

[Unlike many who may wish for a tough year to end, a certain young man with an obsession with 13s is lamenting each approaching minutes. No more will he get a nice 13/13 each month, which made him smile just like his nickname. If 2014 is to take that away, then he is determined to strike back by leaving another numerical mark on it.

And so, as he crafts it for the paper and writes down the answers for submission, the first thing the network sees is an elaborate sudoku puzzle. Somewhere in there, his personal number has been hidden. It is the first time he's found a use for it since it popped into his head - it's a bit long and not as snappy, not as good as 13 even though it is more unique. Still, if there was any a time to use it, it was now. He looks down at his handiwork, fairly pleased, and as he stares the network can look in on his face. Finally, he lets out a sigh.]

Well, now it's ready. Take that, new year! Heh heh hehn.

[Melissa isn’t going into this post blind. She’s read the recent posts, found herself the FAQ, and figured out just how much these network people think they know. And she is not happy about it.]

Listen up, kids. I have half a mind to make a beeline for Sherman’s office when I get into work tomorrow. But for right now, I’m off duty, and I have a headache, so I’m feeling generous.

You all have one comment to explain to me why I shouldn’t give every scrap of information you’ve put up here to him. Start talking.

Hello, everyone. It looks like I'm not the only person just now becoming aware of this... forum, for lack of a better word. I've already read through the FAQ, but while I admire the dedication of those maintaining it, I still have a few questions:
  • Is there any meaningful distinction between using "pulses" and "echoes" to describe the memories (or other things, I'm lead to believe) that we receive? Is one preferred over the other, or is it a matter of personal preference? Do they carry different connotations?
  • I've seen numerous references to aliens in multiple recent posts that I haven't found explained in the FAQ. Could someone kindly summarize?
  • It sounds like people who don't receive pulses/echoes can't access or sense this network. If I were to access it by writing on a piece of paper, say, and I left that paper lying around somewhere, what would my parents see? What if they look at my screen as I'm typing on it? I'd rather not take unnecessary risks, particularly as I'd like to keep my involvement as minimal as possible.
Thank you in advance.
