For a moment, all Hajime can think is that he was an absolute idiot to come along for this. A few of these things, okay, but that many? He doesn't know the first thing about fighting, he's got no clue what to do with this.]

[Fay stares at the writhing mat of creatures, remembering the time when the entire porch at home had been covered in migrating monarch butterflies. That had been scary but beautiful - this was just scary. His mind is throwing a lot of weird creature facts at him, but none seem to match these... these things.]

[Like the rest of the group, Shen Fujin is basically freaking out but he has something of an advantage over the rest of them. He immediately floats up and out of their reach, the temporary shock of the sight erasing his awareness he wanted to keep that a secret.

The Vermini on the other hand stay perfectly still for a few seconds and then in unison chirp and roll away from the group, fading away as quickly as they appeared.

The fact that two seconds after they were gone a man's screams could be heard in a nearby alleyway was probably not comforting.]
