[ phone audio, friday morning ]
[ It's been a while, and again, after the recent things happening, the danger, Kallie's been going over the options and spending far more time thinking than she's usually used to. It's with a low voice she addresses the network- a curious decision given her history of a generally strict adherence to text, but... she's got her reasons. ]
I've gathered a few of you are new to the city, so you might not know about this. [ Or well, she already knows there's people from here too who don't know but CARRYING ON... ] There's a sort of festival that's put on for summer at LCU. It's free to go but there's quite a bit to do, so... if you're looking for something that isn't really that serious the next few days, it's an option.
[ She cuts herself off from tacking on an "I guess" there at the end, and simply goes with putting up a URL for the whole shebang for anyone interested instead. Advertised is one "Streaking Summer," complete with promises of lots and lots of food and entertainment, music from bands of varying popularity, a paint fight(!), official-like 5k run... and a pointedly-bright fine print explaining that public nudity istechnically disallowed... ]

[This response is on the short side, but she thinks it comes across well enough. Better to participate than to dwell on supernatural creatures for a lot longer than necessary.]
— I've been jogging in the park every other day, so I like to think I'm prepared for this.

[ Hey, even if her usual approach so far has been to avoid getting to know anyone here very well, she's still an athletic training student. The comment's out before she has much chance to think on it. ]
[audio]
[Regina isn't usually one to talk about her running experiences, much less casually, but this is the first time she's freely talking about it.]
Cramps are not worth anyone's time, let me tell you.

You'd be surprised... how many people think the risk is worth it then complain afterwards.
no subject
Well, that's their fault for letting it get to their heads before risking themselves. Maybe they completely agree with this whole "no pain, no gain" idea.
[Like herself.]

[ There's a note of - although faint and exceedingly dry - amusement there. Even if she has a mixed opinion on that sort of attitude personally, she doesn't really have the freedom to complain too much either way. She already has to deal with such types and hopes to continue in the future. ]
They'll learn... eventually.
no subject
Yeah, eventually. They could use an extra nudge or two, or even a hard push.

[ She nearly smiles, winding up another comment... but then Kallie finally realizes her own amusement's presence, and the feeling is quick to fade- when she remembers the damn medium she's using at the moment to talk to this other person she doesn't actually know.
Instead she falls silent, feeling uncomfortable for reasons she can't even get close to understanding at the moment. Needless to say, she's a bit thrown off by having a conversation that's briefly even anywhere close to natural. ]

She's wondering what to say next, but only a single phrase comes to mind.]
I'm Regina, by the way. Guess I might see you at the event.
no subject
[ Uttered as two distinct words, yes. This is awkward- despite her advertisement, she wasn't looking for buddies to go with her. She'd just thought... well, that people could use something a little less awful and all of that.
She's grown a habit of becoming irritated when people mention their real names on the network, even privately, but the unexpected tone of things has even her reluctant to get huffy about such a thing. Regardless of her standoffishness, Kallie definitely has at least the knowledge of how good manners should look, and it doesn't escape her notice that ignoring the introduction would be off.
... But in the end, her own safety comes first. Thus, as alias-tastic as it may be: ]
I go by Lightning.

[Her tone suggests that she suspects it's some sort of username, but in a network where people go by aliases as opposed to real names, she isn't surprised. On her end, she thinks there are several Reginas in the world, and at least she's not giving out her last name.]
Anyway, it's nice to meet you.
[But she won't question it — not a big deal at all. Her voice shifts to a cordial one at the end.]
no subject
[ Two-in-one response to both the name comment and the appeal to politeness. After a moment she huffs out a light sigh, trying to subconsciously ease her own sudden tension. ]
... Like I said before, good luck.
[ Her voice is neutral, but not in a forced way this time, at least...! The thought is plenty genuine enough. ]
