struckout: (my heart overrules)

[ phone audio, friday morning ]

[ It's been a while, and again, after the recent things happening, the danger, Kallie's been going over the options and spending far more time thinking than she's usually used to. It's with a low voice she addresses the network- a curious decision given her history of a generally strict adherence to text, but... she's got her reasons. ]

I've gathered a few of you are new to the city, so you might not know about this. [ Or well, she already knows there's people from here too who don't know but CARRYING ON... ] There's a sort of festival that's put on for summer at LCU. It's free to go but there's quite a bit to do, so... if you're looking for something that isn't really that serious the next few days, it's an option.

[ She cuts herself off from tacking on an "I guess" there at the end, and simply goes with putting up a URL for the whole shebang for anyone interested instead. Advertised is one "Streaking Summer," complete with promises of lots and lots of food and entertainment, music from bands of varying popularity, a paint fight(!), official-like 5k run... and a pointedly-bright fine print explaining that public nudity is technically disallowed... ]

Hey thanks, I'll be sure to do my best.

[This response is on the short side, but she thinks it comes across well enough. Better to participate than to dwell on supernatural creatures for a lot longer than necessary.]

— I've been jogging in the park every other day, so I like to think I'm prepared for this.

Sometimes the leg muscles stiffen up when you don't get enough circulation and stretching.

[Regina isn't usually one to talk about her running experiences, much less casually, but this is the first time she's freely talking about it.]

Cramps are not worth anyone's time, let me tell you.
acequeen: (I told you to leave)

[It may be brief, but Regina lets out a faint snort, if only because that reminds her of the people she once dealt with. Why does the description sound so familiar to her...? She really can't say.]

Well, that's their fault for letting it get to their heads before risking themselves. Maybe they completely agree with this whole "no pain, no gain" idea.

[Like herself.]

[The phrase "if they don't?" is right at the tip of her tongue, even making a slight noise in the back of her throat for a tiny signal, but she manages to cut herself off just in the nick of time. No point in "what if's", she thinks, not when dwelling on such things can distract her. She takes a note of the subtle amusement in the woman's tone and returns it, though.]

Yeah, eventually. They could use an extra nudge or two, or even a hard push.

[Even if conversing with strangers is nothing new, casual or otherwise, this is one of the few times where Regina finds herself in a perfectly normal conversation. Not a single subject about the monsters or anything network-related, and with someone normal like herself... it's actually refreshing to her.

She's wondering what to say next, but only a single phrase comes to mind.]

I'm Regina, by the way. Guess I might see you at the event.

... Interesting name.

[Her tone suggests that she suspects it's some sort of username, but in a network where people go by aliases as opposed to real names, she isn't surprised. On her end, she thinks there are several Reginas in the world, and at least she's not giving out her last name.]

Anyway, it's nice to meet you.

[But she won't question it — not a big deal at all. Her voice shifts to a cordial one at the end.]
