So I'm going to be going on a trip to see my cousins soon and I was thinking that there has to be some way to get around that whole "forgetting every important thing" BS. So I've been writing out pretty intense notes, writing down everything I don't want to forget and going to bring that with me so I'll at least have that, and I want some of you guys to keep in touch. I'll be in Japan so texting is kinda iffy, but I'll be checking my mail a bunch, so you guys can just text me though that.

Because seriously, just my luck to have to leave for a week right when we get the main quest, right?

Flashbacks are triggered by a wide variety of things and we still don't know what the fuck that guy was on about. For all we know, he's what's left of the last group of people who went through this and went mad from it all, or he could just be a crazy hobo who got numbers and went more crazy. Too many things we don't know and can't account for. Hell for all we know, when he caused that quake, he was opening up another cave and all those damned things were lurking in it because that's where the mcguffin he was nattering on about was.

But the most simple solution is USUALLY the correct one. That's what Occam's Razor is, not that there AREN'T other solutions, but that the one that seems most simple is usually right.

Personally, I have my own theory, and it's that whatever hole these fuckers punched in the universe to get here opened it up to other universes, so random people have gotten caught up in that and we're getting... echoes or bleeds or something from there. People who aren't us. So we're not really Chosen Ones or a fighting force, we're a side effect of their own idiocy. The echoes that come elsewhere are because they "remind" the other... people, the other uses, of home, so it makes them stronger.

Which frankly is hilarious to me because it means these morons have sown the seeds of their OWN destruction. They ripped a hole in reality that gave people weird powers, now they reap that whirlwind.

...one of the people I'm remembering from has to be me. Diabound is a creature born of soul, there's no way he could be with someone who didn't have the soul he was born from. So no matter what else is going on, I know that the memories I have of the person who had Diabound in his soul as well is-- was me.

There's at least two people I'm getting flashbacks from. Probably three, since the 2nd set is almost always doubled.... One's the thief in Egypt where Diabound's from. Everything there follows a pretty solid storyline, the fight against the corrupt [[Egyptian explicative]] pharaoh and his priests. The other...

The other set is from a more modern time with two people fighting over control of one body where games get turned deadly all the damned time and I swear it's like something out of an RPG except that one memory they're fighting over a TRPG. And not over what you'd normally, apparently the more aggressive one is trying to kill the other one's friends with the game.
