[Written in his cell phone, Arthur broke his period of silence as innocently as one ever could. He was seated on a big cushy chair in front of his cell, which was leaned on a table in front of him.]

I'm between job applications and my hand's crampin' up as a result. Anyone want to hang out, tonight? I managed to pass for 21 at the package store last night, so, y'know--

[He stared dumbly at the screen, realizing he said this aloud and where folks could seriously hear him and remember.]

We got a bunch of stuff. Er, y'know... Dependin' on what anybody'd like to play, right? Emi's house is mostly empty so it wouldn't be a big deal if we were a little loud, y'know?

Actually, job applications. I can barely find anything I'm qualified for! I used to be in construction, but winter ain't a good time for it in the Northeast!

Yeah, actually... I'm a junior at Princeton. Which is kind of why I've got winter exams now instead of last month, but you know. [Details.] It's... it's what it is.

No, that's cool! I didn't get accepted into college--well, never applied. Just got a job straight out.

[Crap, don't talk about yourself-- Ask one of those things always ask college students!] So, uh, what's your major?

Hey, if you never bothered, right? [He shrugs, even if he's a bit surprised. Most of his social circle's off studying at various colleges (if not fellow Ivy Leagues like him).]

I'm EEB - uh, Biology, basically, but I'm also minoring in Religion. [Which kind of explains his church connections.]

Oh, really? So, how many classes do you gotta take for that kinda thing to qualify as a minor?

I hear people talk about this sort of stuff, but I can't ever follow it.

Depends on the school. At Princeton, it's about five or six required courses and then a senior thesis.

They're called minors because it's a lot less work than the subject you're actually studying, which is your major. [Princeton also has a special term for minors, "certificate programs," but Stefan's not going to bother with that one.]

Wait, so couldn't you maybe have like... a bunch of minors?

I wouldn't want to, because one thesis is brutal enough. That's a solid 30 page paper right there.
