Okay, so that car was....pretty. New? Crazy? I'm just glad I've been able to help as much as I have with the clinic for those of you who got hurt in all of that. I hope everyone is okay after that. I didn't really get that good a look myself, I was too busy helping trying to get someone out of the way before they got ran over. Does anyone actually know what the deal was with that thing?

And Geoff, for that matter? None of the other...aliens have talked to us like this have they? Or, at least, since I had access to the network?

And... Yeah, I'll make sure to remind people of that. Though it looks like one of my friends may be having a different issue than what magic can help with.

One of the group who went to Vegas got seriously hurt dealing with Vermini. Another one... Winter's not sleeping well, as a result.

I see. Well, surely the clinic or hospital might help with the injured person. And Winter....there are medications to help sleep? I'm not sure what else might help if she has already tried those.

The problem's getting them. Prescriptions and such. I guess we should probably go through the clinic for that...

Well, yeah. I mean, how else would you get them? I'm not sure there are sleeping pills just over the counter at any pharmacy. The clinic or another doctor is probably best.

Yup. I'll make sure to refer her over at some point.

Good. I hope that will help and she'll be all right then at least.

It's hard to say. Mental health issues aren't always the easiest thing to deal with, after all.

How's work been at the clinic?

No, they're not. It can't be easy for doctors or psychologists.

As for the clinic, it's been okay. I'm there most evenings, helping with the patients and organizational filing stuff. I'm sure once I get better at the healing I'll be able to help more too.

Hrm. Wanna try and hang out at some point? I can spend a little bit of money now and again now, so...

O-oh. Um, sure! I'm more free over the weekends if that works for you? We can just...get a hot chocolate or something?

Weekends are fairly reasonable for me, yeah.

Whatever the case it might be, it's starting to sound like a horror movie.

Yup, like a horror movie! One of those really strange horror movies anyway? It's not something you would see up in the big screen! Just some straight to dvd movie!

I guess I wouldn't necessarily know. I haven't really watched that many myself. Or much tele for that matter, really. But there are probably plenty of comparisons that could be made....

You never grew up watching much television? Then what else did you do? Play video games instead? Or spent it reading?

I watched some television, but you know. I was usually at school or reading, taking swimming lessons, gymnastics and all that sort of thing. Mostly I was reading though. I'm still a bit of a bookworm.

Hey, it's not a bad thing! There's nothing wrong with being a bookworm but it sounded like you were always busy running around with all that stuff going on there!

I guess. I'm fortunate my parents were able to give that time and money, those opportunities to me. I know not everyone is so lucky.

Don't think I ever heard of someone with that name before but you got a good point. There are some people who had some rather...nasty upbringing around here.

Exactly. I recognize and appreciate how well my own upbringing has been in comparison. It must be hard, dealing with the echoes on top of everything else as well, for them. It's confusing and frustrating enough for me even.

[Then there was an even longer pause]

Well, I can't say that my life hadn't been that bad compared to a few people. The worst thing that ever happened to me was when I was a kid but that was a long time ago though.

He was very nice.

Badri? I'm guessing that might have been before I joined the network and all. That or I missed that opportunity with everything else going on.

It was just a few weeks ago. It wasn't pre-arranged. I met him by chance and struck up a conversation.
Like I said, he was nice. Even if he said some weird things.

Oh. I guess I must have missed it then. Weird things like what, exactly? Maybe he just doesn't quite understand us to know we might consider some things they might say or do to be strange?

You didn't miss anything. I didn't mention it on the network. Because nobody asked.

[ Or that's her excuse. For everything. Chats with aliens, secretly being a giant skinless monster and being employed by Thunder Corp are all on a don't-ask-don't-tell basis. ]

I was talking about an acquaintance and said he was "brainless." Badri asked if I meant literally.
When I said that humans can't literally be brainless or they'd die, he winked and said "as far as you know."
There were other things along those lines. Unnerving.
He really was very nice otherwise, though.

Oh, I see. Well, I'm sure people would have been interested if you did bring it up on the network.

And yeah, okay, that is a little. Creepy. A lot creepy. But maybe they aren't as familiar with humans and our physical make up? I don't know, maybe the aliens are different and make assumptions about us the same way we might about them until we learn otherwise.

[The voice is faintly accented and occasionally the owner lisps a bit. Still getting used to the fangs.]

I'm afraid your guess is as good as mine. And frankly, I was much too concerned with trying to avoid being run down by it to even think about what its 'deal' was.

Oh? No, I definitely understand! I was much the same, more concerned with helping and getting out of the way myself. I just thought maybe others have a better idea as to what was going on, exactly. If they got a better look at it.

I know someone that tried to fight it. I don't know if he's gotten out of this alive or not.

[There's the sound of the teenager shifting in her seat. She continues, sounding slightly embarrassed.]

I didn't get his name, though. Even after he saved my life.

Oh! But...how could he...? With his numbered powers? I hope he's all right! That was so brave of him!

There is, yes! I can give you directions if you're hurt or wouldn't mind helping there? I do, when I have time around my studying and my job. I take it your father isn't...one of us then?

I'd like to check it out, if that's alright. I mean, I'm not sure how much of use I'd be, however, I know a lot of things from what my parents do that I think I could be of use, even if just a little.

[He then shakes his head.]

I really doubt he is. If so, I probably would have run into him on the network by now.

Oh! You want to help? That would be great! Um, you'd need to talk to Dr Solus. Or if you just come here I'm sure someone will be around to help you out! It's kind of small, but we make do with what we have. Not everyone of us numbered are comfortable going to a normal doctor or hospital, for....obvious reasons.

I know what you mean. I don't think anyone else in my family is either. But in some ways that's...probably a good thing?

Well, I'd like to do what I can. Though if there's real doctors there, then I'll just be in the way. However, it would also be a great learning experience for me.

[He smiles, really, he just wants to help.]

There are, but I'm sure we wouldn't deny an extra pair of hands around to help! And of course this would be wonderful experience if you are also wanting to look into studying to be a doctor like your parents.
