[It had been a few weeks since her last encounter with the snake attack in downtown but she never could have thought that everything would end up like this. Nevertheless, now that she was on the network?

Looks like she didn't have a choice. With a heavy sigh, she finally responded.]

So I got a quick question. Is there anyone here who doesn't want to be a part of this?

No offense but this isn't the type of thing I would go for. If you want to, then go ahead but I'm not suited for this. Between that snake attack and those aliens, there's got to be something else for those who can't handle it. Yeah, yeah, I can go help at the hospital but who wants to deal with seeing that everyday? That's a lot for an adult or even a kid to handle don't you think? What can a 10 year old do here?

[And not die in the process? However, there was some tapping noises coming from her other end.]

Whatever, I just want someone to get the numbers out of my head! I don't need another snake attack destroying the city or killing me!

[But she did have to admit, she was a little curious about whoever that person was that saved her.]

There are plenty of people who didn't want to be involved when they first started here, so it's completely understandable. Unfortunately, I don't know if there's a way to get rid of the numbers. At one point, you could leave Locke City and you'd forget everything, but it's a bit harder than that now, I think.

No way to get the numbers out of your head. If you don't want to get too involved, then don't, but nobody knows how to get rid of the numbers.

And your age doesn't have any bearing on whether you'd be able to do anything or not. [Said in a voice that's clearly of a boy around your age, and there's a hint of irritation in it. Youth is no excuse. It's never stopped him.]

I forgot it when I went out of town. Maybe you just need to leave!

You can't leave the club. Once you have the numbers, you're part of this. As for people that don't want to be involved, well, let's just say that's nearly everyone.

Oh, about half of the people on here are kids, so age has nothing to do with being active.

Nope, you're not alone. I wasn't too happy when I found out I was a part of this stupid 'club'.

[normally he does not care enough about the newbies to respond to them, but the "10-year-old" part combined with the girl's voice pings a protective urge]

You don't want to get rid of the numbers. All of this happens whether you have them or not, and if you have them, at least you can keep an eye on the network and know when something dangerous is happening.

Use that to stay out of trouble, not get into it.

I'm still figuring that part out. I think we need to know what we can actually do before we know if we're cut out for this.

Pretty sure we can't get rid of the numbers though. I mean, they're the only reason we really know what's going on at all. Without 'em, we'd be left in the dark. It's scary, but it makes us a lot less helpless with all this.

Unfortunately, I think you're stuck with the numbers... unless you can convince your family to move out of Locke and not to Vegas. I don't think the number really goes away, but at least it stops affecting you as much.

Yeah, yeah, you're not the only one! You're not! This is still crazy!

[A huff.] And, ah, I guess it's okay when we all help each other... But, um... I'm not going to the hospital either.

Heck to the no-- I'm about fifty shades of Not Happy with this junk. Vegas never asked for this. We don't want all that Locke magic monsters shit.

Good luck with that. I mean, maybe it'll be a bit different now with the ones that came to clean up the mess the other made, but you're involved just by virtue of having the numbers. What you do or don't do with all that is up to you.

"Hero" is really too strong a term. And I was front-lining in that snake mess, not helping on the sidelines, since I have the ability to do that. Turned out well enough. [You know, minus getting crunched by the big snake, but it's just a couple broken bones! Not that bad!]

10 year olds can do plenty! I was 10 when I got my number! [even if he is 11 now.]

And you can't get the numbers to go away anyway.

I don't think there is a way for a child to get the numbers out of their head. If you were an adult, you could move, but I believe you're stuck otherwise.

Though a ten year old could do a lot. It depends on what kind of abilities they get.

The hospital isn't the worst place to be. Workers and regular patients deal with it well enough.

I guess it's a matter of what you think of as comfortable. I'd rather know what's going on than not know. Knowledge is power and stuff, right?
