Some thoughts.

This network was created just over a year ago, at the beginning of April 2013. Nobody knows how, or why, or by whom if there is a whom. People have noted echoes (or pulses, if you prefer that term) previous to that date, however, so it's possible that the echoes are tied into the nature of the network but not the cause or effect.

The logic behind it all is still unclear, however. Does everyone who receives an echo receive access to this network as well, or only a subset? Why are members of this network detectable in some way, by dogs or by chemicals? Why are we perceived to be a threat?

And I'm somewhat hesitant to go this far, but could there be some purpose to it all? The thought seems absurd, but at the same time I have doubts on whether it's all random. But assuming there is a purpose: what is it? Is the network's purpose and/or that of the echoes we receive to facilitate the achievement of that one, and if so what would happen if that purpose were to be fulfilled?

This is all speculative, of course. I'd be surprised if anyone had answers.

A while ago we had samples of whatever they were dumping into the water. We've been able to determine a few properties, but nowhere near what we should be able to find out if we were dealing with anything in the realm of normality. For example, nobody's yet been able to determine the composition of the additive despite our efforts.

The same goes for the rock related to an incessant buzzing that went on last year, and other phenomena as well. Something still remains out of reach.

I'm not sure I agree with stereotypes, but you do have a point in that they'll have to be vocal if they want to be useful. Nobody furthers research by keeping everything to themselves.

just use them as a springboard to look for tells and patterns
generalizations arent a catchall but theyre useful as a starting point

I do it for a living, so I would hope so.

I do some work at the forensics laboratory, with some research added in.

is it mostly murder stuff or are there other things too?

Many other things, most of them less exciting than you see on television.

ive never actually seen any of that one television
so i wouldnt really know how exciting they think it is haha

Crime shows love to use murder cases as a subject. Fortunately for everyone real life is more mundane than that.

I'd be perfectly happy if nothing strange happened in this city again myself. Of course, that's hardly an option.

well as long as its better than whats gone on before i wont mind too much
