savetheearth | 003 - third luminescence ; armor and grails (backdated to 4/13)

[The feed turns on to a certain blond, standing somewhat close to the camera. She adjusts her webcam slightly before stepping back. She's dressed strangely, in what appears to be partial armor. And from the look on her face, she isn't quite sure what to make of it.]

So, I found this in my bag. I know I didn't pack it, because I don't remember having anything like this before I left. It's pretty light-weight considering [She moves around a bit to demonstrate] but I have no idea where it came from. I definitely wasn't expecting to find a breast place in my bag!

[But did the fabric underneath have to be so... tight-fitting? She felt awkward showing off her stomach and legs in something like that...]

I found something else too.

[She walks back up to the camera, reaching for something behind it, and pulling it out. A small, solid gold chalice, with simple etchings around the body of it.]

It's weird. I'm not sure what other me would have used this for, but I get this strange feeling whenever I hold it. I can't really explain. Has anyone seen anything like this? It looks like a goblet, but I can't for the life of me figure out why I would need something like this...

[She sighs.]

Anyway, I'm starting school tomorrow, and I'm a little nervous. I've never been to a public school before. What should I expect? I know there are a few people from LCHS, so some advice would be great. What teachers are good? Should I completely avoid cafeteria food? What are the need-to-know things I should, well, need to know?

[Arthur stared at the chalice. Then, his eyes were on the armor.]

It's... some fancy goblet, huh? [He felt odd. It was a strange sort of headache coming in.]

I think so, at least. It definitely looks like it.

[She brings it a bit closer to the camera so he can take a look.]

I just have no idea what I would have used it for...

[There was a tense frown on his part.]

I... aside from drinking, I don't know. Though, it seems a bit too fancy even for that, y'know?

I'm not sure I would want to, either. I can tell it has some kind of significance, from the way that it makes me feel.

[How to explain.]

It's like... like I can do more, as long as it's with me. I don't feel stronger, though. It's almost like a warm feeling.

[The frown worsened on Saber's part. He didn't know why, but deep down he didn't like the look of that thing.]

It looks really nice, either way. Maybe you outta put it on display or something.

[He assumed people would do that kind of thing. Having never owned anything particularly nice like that other than his computer, Arthur didn't have much reach on that opinion.]

Anyway, uh. I mean, it's probably a funny though, but you aren't a Knight of Camelot or anythin', are ya?

[She suddenly brightens up at that question.]

Wow, I wish! Wouldn't that be great? I'm still trying to cope with the fact that I might be a knight, but a knight of Camelot, that would be amazing!

Yeah, 'course that'd be tough to hide, unless you're at a Ren fest or Comicon or somethin'.

[Arthur shrugged, smiling as weakly as humanly possible.] Just don't wear it to school.

That goes without saying, I think.

Heh. You weren't plannin' on it, though? I bet you could get away with it once. [He remembered a lot of weird things in High School even before the whole Echo messes.]

Of course not! That would be ridiculous! I could never wear something like this in public, never mind at school!

Oh, yeah, I'm just kiddin'. Don't actually do anything like that. I mean--

[Also, Arthur was suddenly wearing a full set of armor. Uh.]

... Uhhh.

[...

You know, it shouldn't be weird. She's done this song and dance before. But still, the blond stares at the video feed. That escalated quickly.]

Ah..?

[~~That looked a lot more useful than hers~~]

[Making a severe duck-face, Arthur held up his armor-clad hands, inspecting the gauntlets with a measure of muted surprise. He poked the leather in the palm of his gauntlet, wondering if it was a dream.

So, he pinched his cheek and looked back to the network, staring.]

I'm a little drunk, but uh--that don't make you hallucinate. I'm wearin' armor now, right?

You are.

[Reaching off screen for another beer, Arthur tried to pop it open. He found the armor didn't allow him much dexterity for tiny strips of metal.]

OK. So, uh, where's the sword and horse? Don't knights usually have those...?

[And this is why the one true king should always drink from a stein.]

Well, I didn't get anything like that, and I think I'm a knight?

[Anything one could smash on the ground, really.]

...I don't get it. The rest of what I got doesn't match up. I mean, you got a gold grail and armor. That fits.

[Blink.]

Did you get something else?

I dunno what they are, really. [He reached over to some of the buckles on his armor, checking to see if he could undo them.]

I got one that kinda... pissed me off. The other's sort of magic-like.

[She looks interested.]

Can you tell me a bit more?

I-- I don't think I want to. Whoever I was, I'm not sure he's a great guy.

[Scary, if anything.]

Nah, that ain't on you.

[He stopped flexing his hands and set them down.]

I think I was probably the world's biggest tool or somethin'.

[She frowns a bit.]

I can't say one way or the other, but you don't have to be that person. No one is forcing you to.

[Buh-link. That took him a second. For some reason, Arthur felt guilty.]

I heard all kindsa' things about Echoes. What if it ain't up to-- [He cut himself off, rubbing under his eyes.]
