[There's a somewhat confused werewolf addressing the network at large today.]

Ah. I haven't found many people talking about these... aliens yet, here. Unless they're buried in other conversations that I haven't delved deeply enough into. If that's the case, I apologize, I'll go looking a bit harder.

But I have to ask. Do we have a consensus about them at all? I feel inclined to believe them, but....

[That makes him a little uncomfortable, too. Aliens were the enemy for such a long time, and so many things added up to them being trouble-- but there's still this feeling like they make sense. He isn't sure he likes it. And worse, there is a part of him he can acknowledge wants things to be easier, to be for once exactly as they seem. He isn't sure he likes that, either. He isn't sure about a lot of things, right now.]

I'm glad someone else knows something about this sort of thing. Apparently aliens are not something my own "other fellow" has any experience in.

Was there a reason we shouldn't believe someone who wants to help clean up their own mess? Have we tried communicating with them before?

Only that the alien before told the police that the "others" could only come once Wise Snake was dead, and he is dead, and now here they are. And that the alien's minions have been attacking us since the very beginning of all this. Plus, Detective Sherman seemed under the impression that it was an us or them, and he had "sided" with "them".

I believe the only direct communications thus far, before now, were on a message board mid-year last year, upon which the first alien did quite a bit of threatening.

( voice. )

I'm not sure how I feel about aliens at all, but, apparently I'm telepathic or empathic. It's better to wait and see, I think. The city has a lot of issues. Detective Sherman sounds crazy.

It'd be nice if all of humanity wasn't judged by one person's actions. Maybe we should give that same courtesy to them.

It doesn't mean we can't be prepared for other threats. Personally, I'd love to see half this energy turned toward the mafia since they think it's fine to kidnap reincarnates.

[He huffs, half a chuckle and half a sigh.]

Honestly, there doesn't seem to be much energy being expended, period, so... if you really think it will help, I can certainly attempt to turn my useless worrying towards the mafia instead.

I see that Mordin's already mentioned it, but this type of thing did happen in other me's universe. His race, the turians, ended up attacking a human scouting team because the humans didn't realize that they were violating international law. Shots were fired, colonies were invaded, but in the end, it turned out to just be a huge misunderstanding.

It's not exactly the same thing, but seeing as I got an echo-pulse about it from seeing the aliens' broadcast, I'm definitely more inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt.

[And, sadly, he can't think of much to add to that that isn't, as he's said to another of their number, "useless worrying". So he leaves it at that, though now he feels a bit silly for any reply at all.]

Yeah, I get the feeling. Maybe it's just, "wow did we actually make it?" jitters.

[It feels weird to him too, considering more aliens were supposed to come after Wise Snake died, and they did...but maybe it was all a big misunderstanding anyway.]

... I can't imagine that it can really be over. After everything, is this really it?

[That is definitely part of it, he's sure.]

Is this really why we were given all our memories and powers from the other selves?

I'd say it was for fighting the snake, but here we are, still getting pulses. Or maybe that's just a Thing that's gonna keep happening the rest of our lives anyway.

I don't know, either... I just can't help but worry, it seems.

I know you didn't. I was sharing my opinion in the hopes of reaching a general consensus.

Nothing wrong with worrying about it, either.

I'm sorry, I'm being a bit defensive, aren't I? I'm just on edge, but that's not really any excuse.

Science has a lot to gain by interacting with these aliens.

Do you think they'll be sharing anything of worth to science while they're here?

[He's of two minds of that: humanity tends to do bad things with technology even when they just develop it themselves; and that he can admit to being curious, himself. He might be a biologist, technically, but he does love new gadgets and breakthroughs in other fields.]

[Alan of course would normally be 100% distrusting of these aliens, but for some reason he feels oddly at ease. He focuses immediately on the technological benefits this could bring.]

The mere fact that they were able to travel to Earth from an extraterrestrial location suggests that they have superior knowledge of technology.

Humanity has not come even close to matching this ability.

That, certainly. I just question where they are actually here to share that technology with us. And even if they do, just what humanity at large would then do with it.

[And it's that at-ease-ness that has Lyall's hackles up, unfortunately. It just feels wrong to be so... comfortable with things. So: science talk! And worries of another nature!]
