Video - April 13th

[Raye pops up on the network looking like her usual sunshiney self. She's got Senketsu with her in full today and, as is typical, he's keeping a curious eye on the network but otherwise staying silent.]

So... are we just not gonna talk about the friggin' aliens that landed yesterday or what? And am I out of my fucking mind or did they kinda sound alright to anybody else?

[She huffs out an irritated breath and moves to switch off the message for now, before pausing and adding]

Oh, yeah, and I remember somebody saying some of us get memories of the same shit so... does anybody else out there remember some evil clown lady with rainbow hair? Cause, I guess that's a thing I got.

Don't worry about it. Shit was all kinds of fucked up then.

[She shrugs.]

I'm good. Kinda banged up after all that fighting but I had worse. [Maybe.]

I'll say. Sorry I couldn't have been there to help, but you seem like you've got a good head on your shoulders when it comes to fighting.

Hopefully we won't have to worry about that anymore, though. One rogue agent is a lot easier to deal with than an entire onslaught of bad guys from space.

Got into enough of them, I oughta be.

[She hmms thoughtfully.]

Yeah... but are we gonna keep an eye on them or anything, or are we pretty much done with all this right now?

What do you mean "all this"? You mean those three guys? I can't see a reason to keep an eye on them. They seem to know what they're doing. But if you mean the whole "saving the world" thing... I don't know. I don't really see a reason to stop doing that. [she gives a lopsided grin.] It's kind of fun sometimes, anyway. Besides, who says those three couldn't use our help?

Yeah, that's what I mean.

[She shrugs a shoulder.]

If these guys have everything under control, who needs a bunch of dumbasses like us running around, right?

Hey, we're not all dumbasses. Just most of us. Besides, what if they leave the place under our protection when they go? Or if there are other aliens that fall out of their jurisdiction?

I mean, we got these powers to help people, right?

[Oh no, not another big hero type.]

What if our job was stopping the giant snake? Maybe we're already done. I mean, all these powers started showing up after the big snakelight, and mine only showed up when it actually busted out of the ground.

[She wouldn't mind that at all... or at least that's what she's telling herself, but it was kind of fun getting to be a hero and doing something good.]

If the big snake were the only reason we were getting these powers, why would another light have shown up in Vegas? There's got to be more to this than just Locke.

Hmm.

[She doesn't really like to admit it, but that's a good point.]

You think we might have to deal with another one of those giant-ass motherfuckers down there?

It's possible. Or it could be worse. You know like how in video games, they do the easy bosses in the first stage or two just to get you accustomed to the game? What if the giant snake was just the first boss?

[Worse than snakezilla? This conversation is just full of stuff she doesn't want to think about.]

Yeah, but they can't just keep doing snakes then. Next one would have to be something different.

I never said it was a good video game. It could just be two snakes. Or a hydra or something, and the only way to beat it is to get up on its back.

[She folds her arms looking thoughtful then shakes her head dismissively.]

Nope. Can't go from giant snake to giant snake with two heads, that's lame as shit. Next one's gotta be, like, a bear or something big then the third one should be the flying boss.

[Hopefully the universe is not getting ideas from this conversation.]

[her cheeks flush a little; she grins sheepishly.]

I think I'm kind of getting out of my element here. I know a little about video games and, you know, the tropes behind them. I don't think I can predict reality's difficulty curve. Criticize it, sure, because sometimes it gets to be way too much to handle, but I don't know enough to call it out.
