Video - April 13th

[Raye pops up on the network looking like her usual sunshiney self. She's got Senketsu with her in full today and, as is typical, he's keeping a curious eye on the network but otherwise staying silent.]

So... are we just not gonna talk about the friggin' aliens that landed yesterday or what? And am I out of my fucking mind or did they kinda sound alright to anybody else?

[She huffs out an irritated breath and moves to switch off the message for now, before pausing and adding]

Oh, yeah, and I remember somebody saying some of us get memories of the same shit so... does anybody else out there remember some evil clown lady with rainbow hair? Cause, I guess that's a thing I got.

[Sitting in the library, Arthur stared at the old-ass computer screen he was behind, frowning gravely. Really, he was in over his head, here.]

You guys have discussions about these things? Do you all make plans to handle them...?

[And Raye's in her usual setup when she's on the network via laptop. I.e. sitting back against a heap of pillows with the laptop balanced on her crossed legs and a set of headphones around her neck. You can catch a glimpse of the tons of pictures, posters and magazine articles she has stuck to her wall just over her head.

She's in the middle of taking a gulp from an energy drink can when Arthur answers.]

I dunno. I've only been on this thing for, like, a month but if we're not gonna talk about aliens then what the fuck are we gonna talk about?

[In return, Arthur spoke fairly quietly and discreetly--as he was in a public place and didn't want to look too crazy. Still, the library wasn't always dense even on busier days. Free PC use, though.]

Oh. I don't know. What do superheroes talk about? [He couldn't hide his own little dumb smile as he said the word 'superheroes'.]

[Yeah, there's not a lot of discreetness on her end. She just doesn't speak that language.]

Same shit everyone else does, I guess. Except sometimes people come here and show off whatever new thing they got from one of those echoes.

Or whatever the fuck we're calling them now.

Echoes? [Well, he wasn't sure what that was, precisely. He's done a lot of reading and he's seen the word thrown around, but Arthur was going to have to wager a guess.]

D'ya mean--y'know-- a superpower? I've seen a few, but I didn't know that was the word to use.

Yeah. Y'know, when you remember something or get something like a thing or yeah, a superpower.

[She shrugs a shoulder.]

Dunno what else we're supposed to call them.

'Kay. [Well, there was the giant dragon-thing in the city. After he saw it, his blood started boiling and he 'changed', but he wasn't sure why.]

What, do you mean like--all of us have amnesia or somethin'? I don't get what you mean.

[Yeah, she fought a bunch of the mini ones.]

What? No. Like from past lives or whatever the fuck.

[He stared at Raye like she was a psychopath.]

...Past lives? The hell're you talking about?

[What's that look for? Jeez. ~~She hasn't talked to her shirt once this entire conversation.~~]

I dunno. I guess that's what some people around here are saying. That all this stuff is coming from our past selves.

You kiddin' me? That can't be true. Past selves from when? Wouldn't we have heard of crazy stuff goin' on like that in like, real history books?

[He paused, realizing he had written himself into a corner.]

Not like myths.

[Preparing shitty sarcastic teenager attack.]

Oh, shit, yeah, you're right. If past lives were real they'd be all over the history books.

[Here it comes.]

[Arthur stopped, looking visibly shaken. It couldn't be helped. Each and every time he heard the word 'snake', 'serpent', 'dragon' or anything about reptiles, he remembered the Wise Snake.]

No, I'm sayin'... We can't be myths... Somethin' else, maybe--

[Raye blinks a bit, spotting that pause. What was that?]

Like what?

...It ain't important. I don't think I care what the hell it is, anyway.

[Plus, he wasn't even sure he wanted to talk about it, remembering he had a half dozen funerals left to go to.]

I don't wanna be somebody else, I guess.

[Jeez. This guy was pretty serious about this.]

Look, dude, I don't even know if that's what all this shit's about. That's just what some people around here are guessing, alright?

[Yup, a real outburst, there. Arthur was really taking swings out on the field.]

[Blink. Wait, did she miss something?]

When the fuck did you do that?

[Yeah, she's all a shambles over here. Clearly.]

[There was the slow blink. One could have seriously caught an eye-lid in that frame time.]

Uh. Just now. I thought you were cheesed at me or somethin'?

[No, that's just her perpetual level of generally cheesed at something at work.]

Jeez. That's what you call blowing up at somebody? I bet the monsters are shittin' themselves every time you show up.

[Crap. What did he do? Now she sounded perfectly fine.]

No, I-- Are you messin' with me? 'Cause, nobody's that nice when they do it.

Eh? Messing with you? The hell are you talking about?

[This is actually just how she is.]

Uh. [Somehow, he expected all of the numbered folks to be lofty heroes with crazy plans and battle scars and one-liners. He's obviously watched Die Hard and the Transporter a few too many dozen times.]

At this point, I dunno for sure if you're pissed at me or not.

[First off, the words "watched," "Die Hard," and "too many" don't belong anywhere near the same sentence together. Second, it should be quickly becoming apparent that a distressing amount of the fabled Locke City superheroes are just a bunch of dumb kids screwing around. And this one is no exception.]
