So Let Me Get This Straight.

We’ve all got numbers acting as a Call to Adventure to stop the Aliens (Who) Are Bastards situation here, who seem to be playing the We Come in Peace - Shoot to Kill game. We’ve got some Villains With Good Publicity in the form of ThunderCorp and our local police department.

If we’re on here, we’ll be getting Visions of Another Self and can apparently range from Body Horror to Useless Superpowers. And throw in some Talking Animals for an extra dose of totally weird.

We’re encouraged to keep up The Masquerade because we’re Cool People Rebelling Against Authority (and also because said authority have a goal of Kill ‘Em All). That’s kind of gone by the wayside thanks to the giant ass snake that tore through downtown and apparently the aliens wanted dead (btw, Nice Job Breaking it, Heroes). And even though people might not want to be involved, you can’t really stop being a numbered or whatever we’re calling it. But there is always the chance we’ll Forget the Call.

Oh, and You Gotta Have Blue Hair. Least I’m on top of that one. Did I miss anything?

The problem is that, until very recently, The Call Knows Where You Live. There were some very close calls, and at least one instance where... we couldn't do anything. There are other forces in play now that are keeping an eye on us, but... it's better than being actively hunted for what we are, right?

A lot of those are also because we tend to get New Powers as the Plot Demands - pulses can be mundane, like memories or things, or absurd, like a special attack or blue hair. And when something really crazy happens, that's when the plot gives us those new memories and abilities. I mean, I'm a magical girl. I think I'm fairly qualified on this, right?

Right now? No, we're relatively safe. The last I heard, the FBI was hanging around Locke City and keeping an eye on things, and there are ongoing investigations into the police department. The police aren't out to kill us right now. And a passport wouldn't help you - once you leave Locke City, your pulses fade out almost entirely. You still remember them to an extent, but... they feel distant. And you can't access the network while you're outside the city, either.

And yes, the magical girl thing is real. You might have seen me on the news untransforming by accident in front of a bunch of reporters. Regardless... I'm Winter Adamas, former student council president at Locke City High School. More recently, I'm known as Cure Diamond, magical girl with ice powers. I'm in Las Vegas with several of my colleagues Doing Research and trying to figure out what's going on here and if history will repeat itself. I will be VERY cross if it turns out that The Villain Makes the Plot and all we can do it slow down the inevitable destruction of the Las Vegas Strip... so I want to try and head this off at the pass, if I can.
