002 - Second Luminescence ; your mascara's running
Who: Luci Edwards, and you!
Where: Near and around downtown
When: 4/10
What: Mad make-up kit on the lose!
Warnings: Fashion disasters all over the place
[After taking care of a few things that were essential to her re-entry into Locke--talking to someone about school options, wandering around and seeing if anyone around was hiring--Luci was exhausted. Folder full of applications tucked under her arm, she ducked into a café for a bit of a recharge.
Sitting down at a table, the blond deflated a bit, ready to relax with a book (she always kept one in her purse), maybe a cup of coffee. A giant make-up kit chasing people down on the streets.
Wait, what?
Much like the rest of the people in the café, Luci stood up, gaping at the window in time to catch a poor innocent bystander get tackled by the compact on a rampage, which slammed her against the wall.
The aftermath wasn't pretty. A human-shaped outline in different-colored powders adorning the wall, what was left was a person, dazed, their face a product of some four-year old's I-just-found-mommy's-makeup-let's-be-pretty disaster. Looking proud of itself, the kit toddled off, looking for its next makeover victim.
What in the world... She should... probably do something... Locke City, what are you doing.]

But not today.
Her fingers twitched at her sides, a smile still poised on her face, but there was something very off about it. Menacing. Downright chilling, even.]
Please move out of the way.
[Said with the utmost calm, the icy tone said it all; she was beyond pissed. Hands forming a diamond around her necklace. Light gathered around it as she channeled. You better do as you're told, Lucy-with-a-Y.]

[Lucy is in no position to argue! With one swift, but clumsy motion, Lucy-with-a-Y tugs her hand out from beneath the creature's body, then jumps back before the creature can snap at her again.
The alien creature is on the verge of turning its attention back to Lucy; but before it can move, it catches sight of the light forming in Luci's hands. The alien, which had been so vicious before is suddenly remarkably docile, as if paralyzed by the sight of it.
It's not the only one. Lucy watches, transfixed, as Luci-with-an-I prepares to cast another spell.]
More magic...?

That was her favorite outfit!
She just got back here and now she had to deal with this?!
She just wanted a quiet afternoon, maybe some tea, a good book
How dare you hurt people like that!
And how dare you mess with her otherwise normal day!
Anger boiling over, she cast out both hands, two spells flying practically at the same time. The snare, like before, and another, seemingly harmless one. A small technicolored bubble of light. Spinning around a small white nucleus, it let out a quiet, high pitched hum.
She could just pop it. But no. She was mad. So instead she let the compact struggle a bit in its binds as the orb spun faster, collapsing in on itself before exploding in a billow of powder and light.
And that should have done it. Should. But didn't. There was a sound akin to a raptor's screech, and any kind of boiling anger that Luci had abruptly stopped as the dust settled.
Mirror cracked, eye shadow palettes either empty or severely diminished, its cover flapped wildly. Meet the make-up artist on a rampage. Uncaring of who it went after, the thing charged, thrashing wildly. THERE WOULD BE BLOOD. Erm. MANGLED MAKE-UP.]

Though she had been paralyzed in awe the whole time Luci-with-an-I unleashed her powerful magic attack, as soon as the creature charged again, Lucy completely snapped out of her reverie.
Right! They needed to completely eliminate this thing, if they were going to make sure no one else was harmed!
The creature's target, for once, is neither of the Lucys; it's time for it to move onto weaker prey. It barrels headlong towards a young boy in a nearby alleyway; until now, he had been gleefully filming the entire event on his cell phone.
But the second the creature moved towards him, his face dropped -- and his phone nearly with it.]
Stop right there!
[The battered makeup case appears to have no interest in following Lucy's commands. So naturally, she bounds towards it, with every intention of leaping upon the case before it can claim its next victim!
Unfortunately, she overshoots and misses the creature entirely; the heel of her foot clips the edge of the box, and she topples over, landing headfirst on the cement ground below.
Lucy's not very good at this superhero gig. At least not yet.]

There was only so much she could do without her staff on hand--why couldn't her other self have used something smaller, more portable--and she didn't want to push the necklace too far, in risk of breaking it. And while she did really appreciate Lucy's enthusiasm, it wasn't going to win her any awards.
All right, so. Game plan. Bolting after the young, fiery redhead, she threw a quick snare at the kit's back. As the boy scrambled to get out of the way, another Lucent Singularity flew, only this time she chose to detonate it as soon as it stopped moving.
Obviously hurt, this only fueled its rage further, and, blinded by it, it swung willy-nilly. Luci took this moment of blind confusion to run to the other Lucy.]
Are you okay?!
no subject
I'm okay! But you... that thing attacked you! I should be asking you if you're all right.
[Lucy looks up at the other girl with sympathetic eyes. But she has to remain forever the beacon of hope and optimism.]
I'm sure that with enough soap and water, though, it'll wash right off!
no subject
have all her teethbe so cheery after knocking herself out like that if she wasn't.]I'm fine, I can defend myself!
[She could defend the other girl too, but it would be far preferred if she sought shelter, powers (whatever they might be) or not.]
Can we not talk about my face right now?! [It was a sore spot! Also they still had other things to take care of.] Okay, I need you to do exactly what I say. We're going to pincer it! I need you to distract it! And when I tell you to run, run!
[Luci was going to try something stupid.]
no subject
Hands balled into little fists in front of her, she gives the other Luci a firm nod.]
All right! I'll do as you say.
[Lucy turns towards the creature and waves her arms wildly.]
Hey! You!
[The creature abruptly turns to face her.]
I bet there's no way you can catch me!
[The makeup box opens, then closes.]
Yeah! I bet you couldn't attack me if you tried!
[The makeup box appears to be considering this. Then, after a moment of consideration, it barrels towards her, though at a much slower speed than before.
Challenge accepted, apparently.]
no subject
This thing couldn't be stupid enough to chase after someone using such blatant diversionary tactics.
And yet, Luci was proven wrong in almost a "yeah whatever, I'm bored" sort of sense, it would seem. The blond stared.
All right, let's try this. In theory, it would work. In practice, she wasn't too sure, and if it didn't, she is so very sorry, Lucy.
Two spells hurdled at the make-up kit, locking it in place and placing it right next to a prismatic ball.]
OUT OF THE WAY!
[Luci took a deep breath, standing there. At first it seemed like nothing was happening, then, her hair moving in a non-existent breeze, her feet slowly lifted off the ground, a ball of light hovering at her chest.]
no subject
[Lucy doesn't need to be told twice! She quickly scrambles away from the paralyzed creature, and stumbling behind a bus stop bench. Crouched behind it, she watches, wide-eyed and curious as the blonde begins once more to use her magic.
Anais had said that she was able to do magic. Did that mean that someday, she'd be able to use magic, too? Just like Anais and this girl?]

Necklace moving violently at her chest, she took a deep breath, a bead of light appearing.
So much power. Too much power. She felt like she couldn't contain it, like it was going to rip her apart. And just as it threatened to tear her in two, it burst out from her necklace, pendant shattering from the sheer force of it.
It was rather short, in the grand scheme of things, but still fearsome in its own right. A beam of rainbow-colored light fired from her core, knocking the blond from the air. She landed on her backside, but even that little bit did quite a bit of damage to the make-up kit.
The back was cracked, and mirror nearly gone. The various articles inside began to flee along with the main kit, flapping and crying the entire way.
Laying on her back was Luci, arms spread out, whole body feeling a bit numb after the fact.
Whoa. Yeah, she was not doing that again anytime soon.]
no subject
Are you -- Are you okay?
[She extends a hand for the blonde to grab.]
That was awesome!
no subject
But oh man.]
I think so.
no subject
[Normal people generally don't have a strong grasp on magic.]
I'm Lucy Kesswick.
no subject
She slowly sits up. Whoa, head rush.]
That's right. You too?
Luci. Luci Edwards.
this is the closest i have to a fangirl icon
Yeah! I don't have any powers yet, though.
That magic you did... it was incredible! How long have you known you were one of the Numbered?
oh no Luci has an adorable fangirl what do xD
Mmm... Since October, but I left for a few months.
i apologize for lucy being lucy -- now with correct account!
[Lucy is clearly excited by the prospect.]
Why did you leave, though?
