[Michael has had his number for weeks and he's been testing it every now and then. Watching the Network had been something of a new past time because these were the guys that saved the city. Who wouldn't want to watch them talk? He just hadn't fully come to realize that he was actually part of it yet.

But, he was in need of their help now so he put on the feed. The fourteen year old looks into the camera not sure what to say at first. But deciding it was better to ask outright than to draw things out he'd ask.]

Excuse me! You're all the heroes that saved Locke City, right? Well I was wondering if I could ask for your help since your heroes and all.

[Aheming, he continues:]

You see my name's Michael and I'm looking for a man named Karl Aurion. Do any of you know who that is?

[The note almost doubles as paternity test because that writing? Definitely his. Hmm... 'Thank you for the evening. The room is paid for... blah blah blah'... Maybe this is starting to ring a bell. The only time he wrote something like that was during a one nigh--

...Oh.

Fuck.

Did that really happen? Is this really happening?! DID A KID REALLY HAPPEN AS A RESULT AFTER A ONE NIGHT STAND? DOES THE UNIVERSE HATE HIM THIS MUCH?! Uh, saying any of that right now might be a bad idea. Kid's already suffered enough and doesn't need an estranged parent ranting about rotten luck. Though, um... What to even say? Uhh...]

...I do have some recollection of writing that, yes.

[Not the best reply but better than a stunned, if horrified silence.]

[That sorry snaps Karl out of it instantly. What he says coupled with that expression scream disappointment, if possibly being hurt. Okay, maybe the paternity isn't certain, but letting this chat end with Michael APOLOGIZING to him would not do. The deadbeat potential dad should be the one saying sorry, after all.]

No, wait... Michael, was it?

[He sighs softly. Okay, where to go from here? Meeting up with Michael and his mom might be a good start. Yeah, not a bad idea.]

Look, I... I may not recall your mother, but I do not want to leave things like this, either. If you're not opposed to it, I'd like to meet in person.

[The eagerness only further makes daddy feel like an ass. Anger would have been better than a kid being so excited to meet a father who never even knew they existed till now.]

Would you, and your mother if possible, be free tomorrow afternoon?

[Not today just cause brain still has not fully processed the situation. By tomorrow, all these emotions ought to be under control and hopefully by then he could handle talking to... his other son.]

Well, I suppose a congratulation is in order.

p/s: That was such a crude note, I didn't know people actually wrote them.
flamberge: (charity -- probably Lloyd again)

What, pray tell, is so crude about it?
buildyourworld: (That was a joke.)

That's the sort of note people wrote last century. You can't be that old to not grasp the complete lack of tact in something like that.
flamberge: (valour -- it doesn't work that way)

Would you have preferred I left without a word before she woke up? Or been there when she woke up and falsely lead her on?
buildyourworld: (Well then...)

[personal profile] buildyourworld 2014-04-14 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, preferably. If it's a ONS, then it's obviously a no-string-attached arrangement. Why would you need to rub it in further?
flamberge: (sagacity -- always a teacher)

Text

[personal profile] flamberge 2014-04-16 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Because even a ONS deserves to be treated with respect than as an object who only served the purpose of sex and nothing more.
buildyourworld: (That was a joke.)

So convey it during your intimate session, how is that difficult?

Flattering as it is that you believe me so gifted that I can carry a discussion while en route to an orgasm, I am not nearly that talented.

so all that witty banter and lengthy conversation exchanged during intimate bedroom acts that i've been told about is a lie?

p.s. congratulations. would you like a shot with your coffee this week.

[At first, Abby was about to ask him what he meant. Wasn't this kid his son? Of course, after taking another look at the replies?]

....Sounds like you definitely had quite the active life when you were younger eh? Either way, I still think that's really nice that you have two sons now!

It's... not not nice, but just... unnecessarily complicated.

[Two kids is not bad!! Suddenly going from zero two is just really headache inducing is all.]

But now you can figure out how to raise them right? Now that you know you have two sons, it's a good way to start making things uncomplicated!

[That's not how it works, Abby!]

Okay, not really but a good way is to start talking to them and going from there!

I've a different manner of starting [aka chugging a bottle of wine while watching soap operas tonight] however I plan on doing as much afterward.

Mr. Locke! How shocking and might I mention shameful!? And here you were supposed to be some kind of role-model or someshit for all us young impressionable children!

Shocking, perhaps, however there is little shame in imparting the lesson to take responsibility for one's actions.
