[TODAY EVERYONE IS TREATED TO A BEAUTIFUL VIDEO OF MATT WITH incredibly blue hair. He is relaxing at his desk and is completely serious looking.]

I am now a member of the cool hair club. If you wish to join, I will help with the dye. The drugstore down the street sells hair dye in blue, pink, purple, orange and green.

[He looks like he's going to say something else. Decides against it. Leans forward as if he's going to turn off the video.

Pauses. Leans back a little again. Looks kind of uncomfortable.]

Advice on not becoming a human sacrifice. Go. [And then he turns off the video feed.]

Matt... [no he's not that easily distracted.]

Matt! [you can't bring up something like that and then not tell him...!]

[Phil you're too goddamn young but--He frowns.]

I remembered why I died.

[oh he doesn't like where this is going.] ...W-what happened?

It's kind of disjointed. I don't remember what happened before. But I remember fighting a battle I couldn't win.

And what it took not to lose.

That doesn't make sense. [well, he can sort of get it from context, but.] Just tell me.

I was fighting Nyx. The world was ending. I had to become some kind of seal.

He did. Minato.

[There's a moment where Phillip's gazes get unfocused. Getting an Echo off that is certainly not a good sign. It's probably even more worrying that his response once he's back in the real world is the widening of his eyes, before abruptly shutting off the feed.]

[Phillip, Matt is your neighbor. And if you think for even a second he's not going to be at your house in the next three minutes, you're wrong. He's knocking politely, but he will get a ladder and sit on your roof until you let him in if you don't see him now.]

[Phillip doesn't answer the door, but his father does, who, seeing as Matt comes over pretty often on weekends, doesn't see anything unusual about this visit at all and lets Matt head up to Phillip's room.

The door isn't locked, but Phillip isn't immediately visible. Though, the fact that Gloria seems to be examining the source of some sniffling noises in the open closet is probably a good hint.]

[... Hm. Matt takes a second before sliding down to sit next to the closet, a frown on his face and deep worry that what he said caused something terrible.]

[Phillip's petting Gloria with one hand, trying to use the other to wipe even the start of tears off his face. The question is answered by a fierce shake of the head- no he doesn't.]

Want to talk about something else?

[He doesn't say anything for a moment, trying to make sure his voice won't crack when he does talk.] Like what?

A friend of mine wants me to dress in costume and try to get dates. Do you think I should do it?

[your weirdness really comes in handy sometimes. It'll still be hard for Phillip to muster up any enthusiasm, though.] ...I 'unno. What costume?

He didn't tell me yet. But he ate a whole cake so I owe him a bet.

Doesn't that mean you don't get a choice?

I can probably talk him out of it. [He scoots a little closer to see if Phillip would like to come out.] It doesn't look really comfortable in there.

That's because you're too big to fit. [see it's his plan to keep all the grownups out. only he is small enough!!]

[Matt frowns.] Do you not want to see me?

[...that's a harder question than it should be. After a bit of time thinking about this, Phillip will shift out of the closet a little, still safely within the door frame but more easily seen. And he looks miserable..]

[Oh no. Matt said something terrible, didn't he? He wonders if it's any attachment to the echo he had about the boy who turned into Thanatos.]

You know, when you first gave me an echo, I was really freaked out about all of it. But the more I thought about it, the easier it felt, because I wasn't alone. And you're not alone. And when Ken started remembering stuff, he wasn't alone either. [He rests his head on the wall with a long sigh.]

Knowing all this stuff on my own would've really sucked. Probably couldn't've put a gun to my head without you around, unloaded or not.

So even if you don't want to talk about it... I'm not going anywhere. [He freaked out both of his tiny friends. He wonders, then, if it's a comfort to remind Phillip that this isn't those memories. And what happened in them never has to happen again.]

[The fact that that wasn't the first Echo he'd gotten today didn't help... He didn't know why Pharos was so upset about the girl not remembering the things he did, but... he did understand the idea of not getting why death was a problem without friends. Which Pharos only seemed to have one of. And that was really depressing.

So... it's nice to have a reminder that he had more than that. Phillip finally leaves the closet, wrapping his arms around Matt and trying very hard not to cry too much.]
