[Fred's hair is messy; the reason quickly becomes clear as he runs a hand through it. Behind him the ex-cat bounces around the room.

He sighs.] That... could've gone a lot worse.

Long story short, my family knows about the network, and us, now.

[He sighs again.] And I told my sister I'd try to get some of your autographs for her. Especially... [He looks down, reading from a list:] "Bugman, Tavia, and Puff Bonnet, but really everyone." [Looking up again, he continues,] Knowing her, they'll probably get showed around, so if you've got an identity you don't want out there I'd suggest you bow out. And I just told her I'd ask, so don't expect a lot of pressure about this.

So that's... over here. How are you guys?

She really wants the bugman's?

[shrugging] That's what she said.

[Fred doesn't really get the whole autograph thing, although he does have a few signed books. But Ama really seemed to want them, so...]

Huh.

[He is not sure how to react to someone wanting his autograph, really...]

I'm the bugman. How do you want me to get the autograph to you?

[Fred shrugs again.] We could meet up somewhere, or I can give you my address to mail it to, or... whatever seems good to you.

[Easygoing, thy name is Fred.]

Doesn't matter to me. I can just bring it to you somewhere, it's not a problem.

Um. [After a few moments, Fred manages to come up with an idea.] How about the park where we ran into each other a while ago?

[Funny, that park and that monster fight were the last things he did before turning into the bug in the first place...Hajime remembers it all too well.]

Alright, that'll work. Is there anything special she wants signed?

[He's drawing the line at glossy photographs of his bugman self.]

[He shakes his head.]

Not that she's mentioned. Probably a sheet of paper or whatever'd be fine.

That'll work. You want me to bring it by later today?

Sounds good. [Fred has no objections to hanging out in a park for a while, especially when there's a book he's been meaning to read. Which, as it happens, there currently is.]

Sorry, going to have to say no to the autograph.

Fair enough. Like I said, no pressure.

She doesn't honestly think we're heroes or celebrities, does she?

I have no idea. [Have you ever tried to figure out what a teenage girl thinks? Even late-teens?]

Though I could see how we might be seen as heroes, what with the snake.

Most of us were trying to survive. Nothing really heroic about that.

Well, yeah. But some of us did manage to stop it from breaking the city.

If I give her my autograph is it going to end up on e8ay?
8ecause I only sign things for genuine fans. It is kind of my policy.

[He shakes his head.] I don't think so. I mean, she'll probably show it off, like I said, but it seems like she wants these for herself.

[He's... not going to comment on whether his sister counts as a genuine fan, or ask whether that's Tavia-fans or also fans of groups she's in, or anything. Honestly he finds this whole thing kind of uncomfortable.]

Just fyi it won't 8e a signed PHOTO 8ecause all those are at my mom's place. 8ut I can include some genuine fairy dust with the autograph instead or something. As compens8tion.

She's Ama. Amanda, really, but... [He trails off, figuring someone who goes by Tavia probably gets the idea.]

Um. Okay? [He's not really sure of the significance of this fairy dust, or what his sister will think of it, but he'll be sure to pass the message on.]

I 8n't really up to making pu8lic appearances right now. Even for a devoted fan! So I guess you will have to give me an address to send it to or whatever. I won't even ask you to pay postage! Don't ever let any8ody say I 8n't generous as fuck.

[He types out the address and nods.] Thanks! Like I said, yours was one she specifically wanted.

How'd your family take it?

Pretty well, actually. Better than I thought they might. [No yelling, no breaking things, no kicking him out of the house. All of these crossed his mind when the necessity came up.]

I think the weird things that've been going on made it more plausible.

Hey, good for you. [ and it's not dickish, it's just... friendly if anything. glad that someone's got it going on pretty well for them. ]

The weird things are exactly why i'm not saying anything.

Yeah, I can understand that. But when that thing [gesturing toward the bouncing blob in the background] showed up I kind of had to. That or move out suddenly, and I'm not ready to do that.

Yeah, I can see why that'd make a hell of a big difference. [ he snorts. ] So as long as I don't get one of those, i'm safe.

Yeah, good luck. [At least he sounds genuine, rather than sarcastic.] I didn't get a lot of warning.
