[Lyall's been meaning to get on the network again for a while, and now that he's finally got a few things to say, it takes him a minute to actually get started. He does finally, though, after a couple false tries.]

Lyall here. I've been in the gallery, and I think a lot of the rest of us have, too. I've even been by that forum, though I didn't post anything. I find it a little disconcerting that whoever was replying kept referring to people as "humans", as if he or she was not one. Given what we've seen thus far, I do not think that is impossible.

Also, I know at least one other person has heard howling sometime at night. I heard it, too, Wednesday night. It wasn't those mutant dogs, the smell was entirely different, and no one else around me seemed to have heard it or even noticed something was wrong.

[He isn't sure whether or not to mention the dream, but he does say:]

I keep thinking it's something connected to all this. That howl, and the feeling of being watched a few others have mentioned, and that wolf statue, with all these visions and changes we're all going through.

Has anyone else heard it or felt anything strange?

[Private text to students, pre-students, and former students:]

I know a certain one of my students has been joking about a club. I was thinking of making it official, if you really wanted to have an after-school club of some sort for those of us on this network. All age ranges, so long as you're still in school of some sort?

[He likes the idea, it has a certain elegance to it, rather like Chris's theory, which he also likes. But at the same time... Chris's fits more people than his.]

That would make sense in my case, I suppose, given the howl and the scent. But then why would other people whose visions have had nothing to do with wolves hear a howl? And that doesn't explain how some of us do seem to be physically changing. Me, with my old blood and sense of smell; you, with the sharper teeth. Can a ghost change you, physically? Or is that something else?

Who knows. I work with the living. How's Stella btw?

[If that isn't a dodge of further discussion of the subject, Lyall doesn't know what is. He considers whether to push, for a moment, before answering the stated question. He can push again in a few minutes, if he needs to.]

Well enough. I think she's a bit frustrated with me, to be honest. All the vanishing on her.

[All the teaching her how to read. He really wishes he could just tell people, but he needs her permission first.]

Poor girl. I wonder if the cats would get along with her.

[The very thought of putting a sentient ferret into a house with non-sentient cats made Lyall chuckle. The poor cats.]

You can try if you really want her, but I wouldn't have high hopes. I think she'll be all right. I need to find her more toys to keep her occupied.

[Or more children's books that she can muddle through.]

Your pet your choice! I'll leave the offer open barring unusual circumstance which admittedly are likely to happen. They make toys that make bird sounds when hit now it's crazy

Do they really? I'll have to look that up. I haven't had a pet since I was a boy, and I haven't kept up with things since and how they've changed :) Even then, it wasn't a ferret, just the family cat!

Have your cats noticed any of these changes of yours? Or do they simply not care?

Tunnel things that crinkle too. Must be a fun job being a cat toy designer.

They'd have to be paying attention to me to notice! That only happens when I've got food. Or they want to use me as a pillow.

[It's the least he can do. Even bringing up serious stuff after the light stuff was kinda on purpose. It works better for students, anyway, so why not friends? Using his student skills with adults is the best means of socializing he really has.]

Aww. I guess it's just food love :P Well, at least nothing's really changed at home. That has to be a relief.

I know it's selfish but I wish my roommate was in on this so I could be open about it. It's better that he isn't though. This is pretty confusing stuff

I understand. Trying to explain all the strange things going on without sounding insane would be pretty hard. I'm lucky I only live with a ferret :P

Has he even noticed? The visions, the teeth, your being stressed out?

No I don't think he knows what's up. Well he didn't until earlier. He's the one who pointed out that my teeth were different. Thought someone was following me inside too so he got to see that. Alex being all paranoid

[As that's not the subject of this discussion at the moment, though, Alex'll have to ask for more of that line of thought. Instead, he continues:]

Blame it on too much caffeine. That's what I'd do. As far as I know, no one not on the network can see it, so with lucky the teeth and the moments of paranoia are all he'll see.

We should hang out more! Go catch a movie or something. My schedule makes that kind of difficult but we can figure something out.

Think those two are the only things he's seen. I'm not too worried about it. He's not the type to share all willy-nilly

We might be able to manage something some weekend, perhaps. I really don't get out much and I probably should do something about that. Or, well, out somewhere that isn't network related :P

[Since he seems to be doing that a lot lately.]

That's something, at least. There may come a point where you're going to have to fill him in.

How about the end of the semester? Makes it a little easier to line us up. We could have a BBQ on the balcony celebrate summer. Unless you're teaching summer school.

Yeah I guess so. I don't want him to know though being aware makes him guilty by association you know?

I am teaching summer school (a lot of people fail health class, I wonder why?) but it doesn't start for three weeks after classes get out. As long as you don't mind waiting a few weeks :)

There is that worry, I agree. I haven't had to think about it too much :( My only family lives in Iowa.
