So, apparently there was once a magical land called Gensokyo...or maybe there still is? It's confusing. It was a sealed off place, probably in Japan because everyone spoke Japanese, that was a sort of safehaven for all the magic that people don't believe in anymore. There were fairies and vampires and wizards and gods and who knows what else living there, who couldn't live in a world that had forgotten them.
I guess it was my home, once, so I felt like sharing. And hey, maybe if I talk about it other people will remember it.
Oh, also I told my Mom about everything. It was a long conversation, but she's cool with it. I think she's going to use some of the ideas in her next book.

Yeah, I was a shrine maiden there too, but not just any shrine maiden.
[She pauses again, going over that load of information she just got again in her head to make sure she understood it right.]
... Apparently the Hakurei clan in Gensoukyo were some of the people who helped create it in the first place, and their bloodline was tied directly to maintaining the boundary separating it from everything else.
[She pauses again and shakes her head.] And that really sounds like it must've been a pain too.

... Yeah, my job was to keep all the troublemakers in line. "Keeping balance" between the humans and all the youkai and other things living there by beating down anyone causing too much trouble. Or at least the youkai who were.
