Hello everyone. I've been having the same dream every night for the past week now, of the ground splitting open. Normally, I wouldn't bother to talk about something so mundane, but it seems I was psychic in my past life. [added “casually” like it’s an afterthought and not something she’s super pleased with] This leads me to believe that this is more than a normal dream. In short, I think there’s going to be another earthquake. I’m not sure what to do with this information, or what we can do at all; I unfortunately don’t know any specifics, like where or when it will happen, but I can feel that this isn't just a bad dream. If anyone has any suggestions besides warning people away from high buildings, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Maybe it's not actually an earthquake? I mean your other dream wasn't actually a storm....maybe it means something else?

[She continues to text Luke, which is a little ridiculous because she's already explored a subway tunnel with him, boy knows what she looks like, but she wants to try to keep as low a profile as possible]

Yeah, maybe. Hey, listen, do you remember Zelda ever talking about something like this? Recurring dreams that were just dreams? In case this is just an echo of something like that in Hyrule, and not an actual vision of our future.

No, I don't think so...

[In truth she'd only ever talked to him the once, and only about the one dream, but he does have a bit more information to offer.]

And I don't think there was an earthquake or anything in Hyrule either. Ganondorf was just sort of running around doing bad stuff from what I can tell, not causing natural disasters.

I couldn't remember anything like that either, but I thought I'd check. In any case, if it's not an earthquake, it's got to be representing something. Maybe something 'earthshattering.'

Maybe.

[He hesitates for a minute. There's not really a good way to ask this, he sort of assumed she would go on video if he was, but she's still doing text. He fidgets with his hair for a second, then goes ahead with his question.]

Hey can you get on video? Or we could meet up or something? There's a thing I needed to show you and I didn't get a chance back in the tunnels.

[She frowns slightly; things are picking up in terms of serious shit happening, so she'd really rather keep a low profile, but...]

I could meet you somewhere. We should stay by your house, so your grandpa doesn't worry.

[He perks up considerably.]

Yeah, there's a park just a few blocks away.

[He tells her the address, then has one last question.]

Can you come now?

[She considers it, glancing at the time on the computer and the textbook next to her, before deciding] Yeah. I'll be there in twenty minutes.

[and so she grabs her phone and her scarf and calls out to her mom that she's going to the library to study. It's cold outside, so she wraps it over the bottom half of her face, intent on going to meet Luke--]

[and feels the increasingly-familiar thudding as she jumps the last few steps to the landing.]

[She waits, expecting something dramatic or flashy, though nothing shows-- but considering how well that worked out for her last time, maybe she'll start reading minds next.]

[And so she cheerfully bikes over to the park, daydreaming of the next cool trick that she'll add to her psychic princess arsenal.]

[Luke's waiting on a swing, but unlike the last time he met someone here at night he's on the lookout for Evelyn. His hands are in his jacket pockets, and there's a lump much bigger than his hand in the left one. When he spots her on her bike he jolts out of the swing, and scurries over to meet her half way.]

Hi Zelda! Hi. Um. This is the thing I wanted to show you.

[He pulls out the ocarina of time and holds it out for you to see.]

It was a royal family treasure and it belonged to you, but I got it in an echo a while ago and I don't know why.

Oh and it's magic and stuff.

[She tugs her scarf down from her face and hops off the bike, chaining it up next to the fence before looking at what he was holding.]

A treasure? [she focuses on it, trying to will a memory to appear if she tries hard enough, but it's not until she reaches out to touch it that she remembers--]

[--there wasn't enough time left, but the least she could do was leave Link the key. This song opens the Door of Time--]

[She looks up at Luke from the instrument.] I had to give it to you. [she says, trying to sort through the memory.] We ran out of time, but you needed to protect the Triforce.

[and then she hold her hand out for the ocarina, trying to remember how the song went]

[There's a very brief momentary hesitation when he's prompted to give her the ocarina, but he hands it over nearly immediately. Yes it's special, and yes it means a lot to him, but on a very technical level it is hers. And she's also clearly not going to break it or do anything bad to it either. She knows its important.

His eyes go wide at the mention of the Triforce. Running out of time? This is basically everything he had been worrying about.]

Does that mean something bad happened to you?

I don't know. I just... I needed to teach you something, but knew I wouldn't be around for it.

[and she holds it in her hands-- this can't be that hard, she remembers the fingering, basically-- so she raises it to her lips]

[and a horrible, squeaking note is ripped from it]

[She frowns down at it, moving it away to say] Sorry, it was like... [and she tries again, a wavering, offkey note as she tries to adjust her fingers]

Dammit... I know what it is.

[Luke gives a small involuntary flinch when the sour note pours out, but then stays still and quiet. Just...waiting for her to get it right. He waits, letting her flounder around for a while before he finally speaks up a bit.]

Um, you're holding it wrong?

[He holds out his hand, his small statement also acting as a way to request the flute back.]

[She blushes furiously, handing over the instrument with restrained frustration-- it's important, she doesn't want to break it, but she all but shoves it back in his hands.]

Whatever. Anyway, it sounds like...

[and she settles for humming the song of time, and trying to pretend that that's totally what she wanted to do in the first place]

[He takes back the ocarina and clutches it protectively to his chest for a moment before maneuvering it around to the proper playing position. He was going to show her where to put her hands, but she starts humming and he gets a flash of memory.

....That was even more worrying that he thought. Zelda's expressions and her words troubled him greatly, but he pushed those thoughts to the side, instead focusing on the melody.]

Oh, um yeah. Like this...

[And he proceeds to play the song.]

[At least he remembered it; she fiddled with her scarf rather than look open to trying out the ocarina again.]

That's it.

[and then curiosity overtakes her, and she asks]

...Did you... I think I was leaving you a message through it. Like an answering machine. Did you remember that, too?

[Luke nods and looks down at the ocarina, turning it over a few times in his hands.]

Mhm. You sounded...worried.

[He shifts uncomfortably but then looks up, an uneasy smile on his face.]

B-but I got all three stones! I'm. I'm sure I go get the triforce and stop anything else bad from happening.

[There's a desperate sounding note in his voice. On the whole his would be confident statement sounds an awful lot like a question.]

[She’s still mad at the ocarina for not being as easy as one-two-three, so she crosses her arms defensively and glances away. He sounds worried… she can probably help cheer him up.]

Well, whatever’s going on, there’s nothing we can do about it on our end. Unless you suddenly regain a giant gaping hole in your stomach.

[help…ing…]

[Um.........

What?]

Um.

??What??

...That was a joke.

[good at jokes? good at jokes.]

...Look, I just mean, it's going to be okay for them. Whatever happens won't change what's happening now, in Locke City.

Oh. Kay.

[He sort of looks at you for a long moment without saying anything. Eventually he nods, and looks back at the ocarina again, fiddling with it some more.]

Right. Um. I have a song for you too. It was my first echo.

[He takes a deep breath and plays her a song.]

[Look, no one ever said she was the funny one.]

[But she looks at him with interest, and as soon as the song starts playing, it's like she's known it all her life; she remembers Impa, playing her song for her, and a smile grows on her face without her realizing.]

It's my lullaby.

[She knew that she was a princess, and that the kingdom was in danger, but something about it didn't feel real until she got this piece of human emotion with it.]

Luke, I'm sure everything worked out. You were the one with the stones, right? No one but you could get the Triforce, especially not Ganondorf.
