[text; forward-dated to tonight because melissa is bitchy that she's too tired to party]

[Melissa isn’t going into this post blind. She’s read the recent posts, found herself the FAQ, and figured out just how much these network people think they know. And she is not happy about it.]

Listen up, kids. I have half a mind to make a beeline for Sherman’s office when I get into work tomorrow. But for right now, I’m off duty, and I have a headache, so I’m feeling generous.

You all have one comment to explain to me why I shouldn’t give every scrap of information you’ve put up here to him. Start talking.

[ooc: Replies will be slow until tomorrow, but have fun!]

I don't think it does make you monsters. But there's still something dangerous about killing a guy, even if it was an accident.

Look, I'm still trying to sort out the facts here, but even if it was an accident, under normal circumstances, it's still something that should have been reported to the police.

Of course, the problem is, I'd hardly call any of this a "normal circumstance".

[ In fact, he's still not sure if he's still dreaming. ]

there always something dangerous about being human too. we all have the potential of killing someone, accidental or not.

unfortunately, we do not have the luxury of being people able to get a reasonable response from the police. if we did, i doubt we would have as much problems as we do now.

the fact is that for now, we are outside the usual law because we are not normal people. we're turning into strange creatures with powers and memories that come straight out of the movies. we don't ask for those abilities, we only want to know why us out of the tens of millions of people in the world, and so far, we really haven't gotten a lot of answers.

and one of the few sources of answers see us as a threat to some kind of alien creature that approached them first.

so just try to look at this with an open mind. that you can actually see the network means that you're already a part of this and that you will also experience some weird changes later on.

Of course. Laws exist for a reason, and people can't just be exempt because...

[ He stops typing. This isn't an argument that he thinks he can win, particularly not when it's the local police themselves that are making it impossible to use the law as it's meant to be used. ]

Look, I still don't know just how much I am a part of this, and I don't know how much I can believe here, but I do know there are a lot of kids among you, and most of you seem to be generally decent individuals.

This just keeps getting more and more confusing. As soon as I have a lead, it's almost like it slips away.

laws were made to help normal people. if this had happened before then i think things would be different. better laws for one, but would that still protect us or protect the police when they go after us?

focusing on leads on the network is not exactly something that will give much. we aren't always going to be the most reliable because of the nature of our pulses.

But some of you guys are members of the police. And as it stands, you're still in the minority, right?

The problem is right now, there aren't really many reliable leads in this city, network or not.

some of us. some of us are kids. some of us are grandmothers, and some are just plain working people. we are a mixed bunch.

anything that you see on here is not transferable. we tried to record and share what we have but it never worked. we can point in the right direction, but what good would that do if there is no way to gather the evidence that you're looking for.

if you're looking for a way to make this stick that is.

Honestly, right now, knowing which direction to look is my main concern.

look into the police and their actions. i'm pretty sure that there are a few questionable practices inside there, especially since we have tried to use the system to find missing people that were once on the network. there might be other recordings or something hidden or just not quite right because i'm pretty sure that even how big the force is, someone must have noticed something off.

Thanks for the advice.

[ ...Though of course, the question is how to ask all of this without arousing too much suspicion. ]

Do you have a name, oh helpful stranger?

[ The name was vaguely familiar, as if he had seen it in a case file related to corporate connections before, but surely that was just a coincidence, right? ]

Thanks for the advice again, Shou.

You can call me "Garrus". Mind if I message you if I need anything else?

[chinen shou, one of the three kids of the chinen financial group from Japan way, bumming it out in America to get away from a few rather colorful scandals back home. this was not exactly what his parents thought he would be doing while he was bumming it out here tbh.]

nice meeting you, garrus. i don't mind. i've been around here since mid-may so i know a bit more about the network and people than a lot of the other kids on here.
