Who: Winter, Jasmine, and anyone who agreed to come here, as well as anyone who could have believably heard about it and wishes to celebrate Winter's birthday
When: December 29th, afternoon
Where: Winter's family's home
What: Someone's getting a surprise party

Jasmine had been working at it pretty hard for a week or so now, but it seemed like her efforts were largely about to pay off. She'd managed to get everyone on the same page, and a fair amount of people had come to hang out.

All that was needed now was the birthday girl to show up, and that was just a matter of waiting for Brittany to finish distracting her and getting her to the party itself.

The stage was set, the decorations were all set up, and everyone was lying in wait for the birthday girl to show up... all they needed now was for Brittany to show up with her on time.

[Jasmine had received a text as Britany and Winter wer walking towards Winter's house, of course - a few minutes to get the last touches in place and hide. Then, as the door opens...]

You've got a lot more than you think, you know.

[... Britany motions Winter inside.]

[Winter doesn't think too much of being ushered in first - it is her house. Stepping inside and quickly shedding her jacket and dropping it on the hall tree before moving into the living room, she can start to vaguely see decorations... what was going on? The house seemed like it was buzzing with energy... hold on a second....]

[and that's when it happened

Jasmine sprang out, letting loose a noise maker as a signal for everyone else to leap out as the lights were all brought on]

[Yeah, he just stands up and gives a small, casual wave. What, you except him to jump around and make noise? He has to maintain some dignity somehow. The important thing is that he's here, right?]

[She is not at all prepared for the onslaught of well-wishers in her house; she sees her parents floating around somewhere too, and she finally starts to understand, even as her poor head tries to catch up and her heart's pounding. But she knows enough to realizes what's going on, and it moves her more than she can say.]

Oh, I... t-thank you...! You didn't...

[As a moment passes where she can't actually get any words out, she looks around again at the gathered group of people, and she feels tears come to her eyes. But at the same time, she can't get this damned goofy smile off her face...]

Happy birthday, Winter! I-

[she stopped suddenly, biting back the urge to sing her own praises]

[Winter can't help but beam at her. She's got a feeling that Jasmine played a part in this, but if she doesn't want to say anything, that's her right.]

[she pokes Winter's cheek] Anyway, your parents were really cool about letting us do this...

[He's not a party type of person, so most efforts to get him to do beyond the minimum of socializing haven't amounted to much. He doesn't know half these people. But he does know Winter, obviously, and there's some business that needs to be taken care of.

[He sits down near her when she's on her own for a moment, setting his plate of food down in front of him. Notably, he has something tucked under one arm.] Hey.

[Flitting about everywhere - or at least as much as she can with the cast still on her; she's requisitioned crutches for tonight - Winter's been keeping herself busy, between making sure everyone's taken care of (yes, at her own party) and talking to people. After a little while, though, she plops down on the couch, and seems to just take a minute to relax. She's kind of been pushing herself, and it shows. So when Toushirou takes a seat next to her, she looks over with curiosity.]

Hi, Toushirou. Thanks for coming... really. Sorry, it's b-been busy, and I haven't been able to come talk to everyone... [She trails off, seeing the item he's holding, a look of question on her face.] What's that?

Quit apologizing for stupid things, idiot. [She surely knows him well enough by this point to know he actually intends no insult. 'Idiot' is kind of a fond term, when he applies it to her. It's a good, versatile word, clearly. It can mean so many things.

[He takes the object out from under his arm; the fact that it's lightly wrapped might be a clue.] It's your birthday. What do you think it is?

[He hands it off to her. The wrapping is tidy, as most things are that he does himself. And when she unwraps it, she'll find a small relief sculpture of a calm winter scene, complete with what looks like a girl with a certain plushie in the midst of it. The sculpture has some earmarks of being done by a child, but is also quite good for having been done by a child. He has a bit of skill in this area that he doesn't really make a thing about.]

Even further later on, both because the player is late and...

[...Lily doesn't really want to butt in the middle of people Winter knows much better than her. But once things disperse and spread out a little bit more, she does approach her, smiling.]

I hope you didn't mind us taking the the liberty here, Winter.

[Looking around the room to make sure someone in particular isn't within earshot, she leans in and whispers.]

But since she won't say it herself, you should know Jasmine's the one who got us going for this. I didn't even realize it was your birthday until she figured it out.

Of course I don't! I'm so happy... I c-can't really put it into words. Nothing like this has... ever happened before. I'm not complaining.

[She nods at the information she wasn't supposed to know just yet.]

Britany... told me. I need to thank her... I think she's trying n-not to brag, though.

[...Oh shoot, they were late on the delivery. They quickly cover their mouths, hide behind the couch, and hope no one noticed.]

[Winter did, and she feels absolutely terrible, almost going over the couch before she remembers she still has a bum leg, opting to go around it instead.]

N-no, it's okay, I'm sorry! I spoke too soon... um. Thank you, really!

[Oh noooo this is worse. They quickly hop back up and make huge, wild, (attempts at) comforting gestures.]

[After a short bout of piercing terror followed by indescribable joy, Winter turns around to Britany and, without warning, leans in as close as she can manage while not putting a scooter in her face to hug her.]
