Who: Winter, Jasmine, and anyone who agreed to come here, as well as anyone who could have believably heard about it and wishes to celebrate Winter's birthday
When: December 29th, afternoon
Where: Winter's family's home
What: Someone's getting a surprise party

Jasmine had been working at it pretty hard for a week or so now, but it seemed like her efforts were largely about to pay off. She'd managed to get everyone on the same page, and a fair amount of people had come to hang out.

All that was needed now was the birthday girl to show up, and that was just a matter of waiting for Brittany to finish distracting her and getting her to the party itself.

The stage was set, the decorations were all set up, and everyone was lying in wait for the birthday girl to show up... all they needed now was for Brittany to show up with her on time.

[He's a little out of place here, being quite decidedly the youngest and smallest person in attendance. But like hell he's going to not do anything for a friend's birthday. He's there early enough, and busies himself with helping the preparations by making sure things are tidy and getting the food set out in a manner that makes sense. Everything about the set-up is going to properly arranged if he has anything to say about it. And he will have things to say. There will be no slapdash preparations on his watch.

[When things are for friends, you need to get them right, damn it.]

[Jasmine had received a text as Britany and Winter wer walking towards Winter's house, of course - a few minutes to get the last touches in place and hide. Then, as the door opens...]

[Lily, meanwhile, is in and out several times with supplies and at least one last-minute run to the store. Noticing him the youngest there, she does take interest with just how thoughtful he seems to be going about it, and once she's finally sure she's not having to go out again, eventually speaks up to him directly.]

So, if you don't mind my asking, how long have you known Winter?

[It's part thoughtfulness, and part being unable to abide disorganization, to be honest. He hates messy things. How could anyone like messy things?

[He looks up at the voice, not really bothered, and takes a few seconds to consider the question.] Since about June or July.

[The Dians made it their mission to cover the place in streamers. And by god, they were racing around everywhere trying to cover the place in streamers. Someone might actually want to stop them, it's getting a little ridiculous.

But really, when someone's happiness is on the line, the couple knew they had to work hard to make sure everything worked out okay. True, their familiarity with Winter was... vague. But she needed some cheering up! So her well-being had their undivided attention. After all, if they didn't work hard for another person's benefit, what would that make them? Maybe not monsters, but...

Well, it was what they believed anyway.]

[Winter doesn't think too much of being ushered in first - it is her house. Stepping inside and quickly shedding her jacket and dropping it on the hall tree before moving into the living room, she can start to vaguely see decorations... what was going on? The house seemed like it was buzzing with energy... hold on a second....]

Jasmine sprang out, letting loose a noise maker as a signal for everyone else to leap out as the lights were all brought on]

[Yeah, he just stands up and gives a small, casual wave. What, you except him to jump around and make noise? He has to maintain some dignity somehow. The important thing is that he's here, right?]

[She is not at all prepared for the onslaught of well-wishers in her house; she sees her parents floating around somewhere too, and she finally starts to understand, even as her poor head tries to catch up and her heart's pounding. But she knows enough to realizes what's going on, and it moves her more than she can say.]

Oh, I... t-thank you...! You didn't...

[As a moment passes where she can't actually get any words out, she looks around again at the gathered group of people, and she feels tears come to her eyes. But at the same time, she can't get this damned goofy smile off her face...]

[she stopped suddenly, biting back the urge to sing her own praises]

[They jump back in surprise. Their eyes quickly shift from Jasmine to each to the streamer and another cycle through all three.]

[...Oh shoot, they were late on the delivery. They quickly cover their mouths, hide behind the couch, and hope no one noticed.]

[Winter did, and she feels absolutely terrible, almost going over the couch before she remembers she still has a bum leg, opting to go around it instead.]

N-no, it's okay, I'm sorry! I spoke too soon... um. Thank you, really!

Ah, I see. This is the first time I've met anyone... [She paused. Well. INTENTIONALLY, anyhow...] ...from, uh.

[Her eyes darted around the room, trying to make note whether or not Winter's family was anywhere within earshot.]

...ah. Things. You know.

But Winter's been through a lot here lately, so... hopefully this will be good for her.

[Winter can't help but beam at her. She's got a feeling that Jasmine played a part in this, but if she doesn't want to say anything, that's her right.]
