So I just kind of randomly found a weird statue this morning. This is definitely not my uncle's so it's probably mine. It looks like some kind of... demon thing? I don't know. It's weird. I'm pretty sure past-me owned it though. I feel like I was researching this, and something seems off about it for some reason.

I guess I didn't really think about it, but given what we remember, it was probably pretty unlikely that we were from Earth. Still, it feels weird thinking about that. What does that make us, then?

Hard to say. The magic we can both use is definitely a big deal, but we otherwise seem human. At least for now.

I don't want to turn into something weird, as fascinating as that might be.

I can't say I'm crazy about the idea either. Did you know there's a zombie kid hanging around? I'm really hoping I don't end up like that.

[She smirks.]

I should hope so! I don't want to have to reattach your arm or something gross like that. I'd do it, obviously, but I don't want to do it.

Nothing. Which is weird.

Why weird?

Well, usually when one of us gets something back, the other remembers something. This time, nothing for either of us. It's weird.

That is a bit odd. It's obvious we knew each other before, but I have this feeling there was definitely some difference too. Much like we are now, I feel like we were from different walks of life, if that makes sense.

I feel the same way. I just wish I knew more. At least with a book, I could turn to the last page and figure out what happened. This is like torture.

I don't mind so much. It's like archaeology. You slowly uncover pieces of a puzzle to get a clearer image of what happened a long time ago.

Who would have thought you'd be the patient one between the two of us.
