[ voice, 12/18, after dark ]
[ the voices are somewhat muffled because the phone is in his pocket. neither of them sound in good shape. ]
I'll-- I'll help you up. Let's go.
[ those who know nick will recognize the second voice as his: ] This is turning out to be a pretty crappy rescue, man, I'm sorry. [ this is followed by the sound of clothes rustling as the two dudes get up. ] It's this way.
[ the sound of snow crunching beneath shoes might be faintly heard. ]
Two trauma cases. First, hemorrhage, suspected class two. Second, penetrating trauma, chest, broken ribs. Not... No major blood loss yet. [ a pause. ] Where are we?
Just outside of town. [ this is followed by a more precise location. ]
Requesting aid. And if anyone can contact... Ravindra, that'd be great. Thanks.
[ a short stretch of silence. ]
Re- Recline your chair or lie in the backseat.
I can manage, your injuries sounded a lot worse. There's a first aid kit in the back. [ the muffled sound of a car door opening. ] I only have basic training, but if you tell me what to do I can help.
[ rustling as alex sits down, butt-ending the connection. ]

[Voice]
Where are you?
..wait, shit, no you just said.
What do you need?
[voice]
Ravindra or one of the doctors.

I think - I think -- I think I can - ... -- contact Ravindra -- you're -- both -- going to survive, aren't - aren't you?
[voice]
(and not because no one was awake and checking the network at this time. lucky.) ]
Did you get him? [ silently hoping anthony did not wait for a response before contacting ravi. ]

[Voice] -> [Action]
Stay there. I'm coming.
[he is both relieved that Alex is found/alive, and worried by that trauma description. also extremely grateful that Anthony called his emergency contact number to let him know this was posted, bc who knows how much longer it would've been before he saw it on his own]
[he is out the door and on the road in minutes. he will be wherever Nick said they are ASAP, with his combat lifesaver pack alongside a regular first aid kit, and a supply of blood from the freezer just in case.]
[since they are outside the edge of town, ASAP is probably >20 mins, unfortunately. he does have his phone still connected to the network, though, so he can listen & respond while driving]
[voice]
relief from hearing anthony's confirmation is doubled from hearing ravi. maybe he won't die (again? for real? who knows.) ]
We're in a car. Lights on. [ he sucks in a shallow breath. ] And I'm normal.
[ by normal, he means human. not so much relevant as it is boggling. ]
[voice]
[normal = human is unfortunately not a meaning Ravi is able to infer. 'normal' is such a vague word and he's so used to thinking of Alex as a vampire by now that it doesn't even occur to him that's what it's referring to.]
Normal how?
I am almost there.

audio;
Do you—.... Is there someone coming to help?
audio;
Yeah, someone who can... magically heal wounds so we'll be okay. [ he hopes, anyway. ] Thanks.
audio;
Right. Magic wound healing.
[Robots. Aliens. Why wouldn't magic wound healing be a thing.]
If you—.... You don't need any more help, then.

Ugh. So late. [Video]
[She sits up immediately when he shows up, and she's not in her apartment. From the looks of things, she seems to be somewhere very high off the ground and there's a definite edge to her voice. Relief? Panic? Something else?]
Where are you?! What happened?!
[voice]
he sounds tired. ]
Hey, Nessa. Got arrested, then rescued. Currently waiting for medical attention. How are you?
[voice]
What? Where are you, do you need help? I can be there in a few minutes.
[And if she can move as fast as she's talking right now, she really will be.]

[Oh. Oh shit. Was this the arrest Nick was so distressed about?]
Sent Ravi a text, though I think someone else got that covered before me.

...There's a missing person's report we might need to get rid of.

I thought you'd disappeared. God.

But that wasn't important right now, was it?]
Have you gotten a hold of Ravindra? Do you still need assistance? How are the patients?
voice;
he can eat ice cream!!]Thanks for checking. [ he's sincere about that. no one is really obligated to care, so it's nice to thank those who do. ]
[ text / the next morning ]
Shit. I was just going to lay down for a nap, and...
Christ, I'm sorry I wasn't around to help.
[With what exactly, John's not really sure. Medical training? What's that?]
