Entry 001 | Handwritten

[Suddenly, whatever the reincarnates are using to access the network will have a few dates, appointment times, and notes being scrawled onto its surface.

"4/29 - Send finished presentation to Ayliff, 4/30 - meeting with board members" for example. Then one of the notes cuts off halfway through ("Speak with Profe") and there's nothing more for a while.

About an hour after the message first appears, Aeron finally adds onto it again. The handwriting is neat, just as it was previously, but now there's a certain slant to the words that convey a sense of irritation and impatience.]

Now that I've seemingly broadcasted my week's schedule to the whole of the city as well as established that this is not, in fact, a figment of my imagination brought about by countless hours of studying, would anyone care to explain? I assume, by the other entries on here, that people other than myself have found their new personal organizers mysteriously capable of receiving and transmitting messages.

Let's have it then. How many of you are there?

And while you're at it, I'd appreciate it if you all erased my schedule from your journals. It goes without saying why.

[ Emery spends that hour contemplating what best way to approach Aeron about his slip. While it's clear he's new to the network (much to Emery's chagrin and slight concern), he isn't as new an addition to his life, and their last conversation wasn't exactly friendly. Not unfriendly, of course, just slightly prickly around the edges, and Emery finds himself tapping the arse-end of his pen against his notebook in indecision.

—Not about the presentation, either.
]

Penning?

[ Good start, Emery. Good start. ]

Beginning to see why I might've been a bit distracted lately?

abidan: (• brown is a good colour.)

Hardly the middle — more sort of floating around the edges? And since I don't actually report to you I don't have to tell you much of anything.

[ Seriously Aeron. ]

I should ask, though. Aside from this, has anything ... notably odd happened to you lately?

Don't waste your time on me. If you look back through old entries you might get an idea of what's been going on.

[ There's silence for a moment, then: ]

Something bad is happening, and I think it involves all of us. Now you too.

Not only organizers. Be careful where you write that number-any flat surface will do. Text, video, voice, all visible only to people with a number.
abidan: (• qurl please.)

[personal profile] abidan 2013-04-29 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
It is.

[ He's actually smiling, albeit a little grimly. Probably for he best that you can't see it. ]

Which is why people like you need to be especially careful.

Exactly. I've typed mine into a phone right now, and computers work, too. I've even seen someone access it with a toy laptop. It's a very versatile system.

[[Bakura's always happy to see handwritten entries. It gives him the perfect opportunity to doodle on someone else's paper.]]

Anything you put it on will transform into networked material.

Don't go writing it on the bathroom walls. No one wants to see that~ [[Have a small doodled of a scandalized looking figure next to that]]
abidan: (• fucking swish.)

This isn't an easy thing to accept. I know that, but I also think that your lens is a bit more sceptical than mine.

[ Just an observation! You don't exactly go out of your way to dispel that judgmental aura, after all. ]

I've had a few weeks to come to terms with it. Some people have had longer — they seem happy to share what they know.

[ Then post-script: ]

Just ask the right questions, Penning.
elfstoned: (it ain't hard to tell you don't know)

[personal profile] elfstoned 2013-04-29 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish I knew. No one here knows what this is, where it came from, or why only we can access it. How many of us there are is impossible to tell. But I admit it's been invaluable, and not only for coordination. When strange things start to happen, it's a comfort to know you're not alone.

People with no idea what the number is have written it in all sorts of places. I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

[[Starting to fill in detail on that doodle now. Looks like he has coloured pencils with him as the figure now has a blue and green striped shirt.]]

Everything we know, as brief as I could keep it, is here.

Nobody has tried to determine exactly how many of us there are, but there are at least a couple dozen, as nearly as I can determine.

NOT SORRY FOR THIS also text

[ Oh my god how many little shits does he have to deal with prancing around on the network these days? The words prat and prick both come to mind at about roughly the same time, but being the unfailingly polite Brit (hahahaha yeah right) he is, Casval refrains from cracking crude commentary, other than ]

Charming little prince, aren't you?

[ Well, you had to let him have at least one. It's practically a rule with him. ]
elfstoned: (gets me overwhelmed)

There have been cooperative efforts on our part to respond to what's been happening, with varying degrees of success.
