[ At last, the big day has come. The Echo party. Sasha was bringing snacks, and Ryan and Bertholdt even decked the place out in Christmas decorations-- they have a real tree and everything. Their apartment looks, in a word, festive, which is adorable given that they're wearing matching christmas sweaters and fidgeting around a bit. ]

[ Now just pretend Ryan and Bertl don't look kinda titan-y and you're all set. And forget about the part where they're having a bunch of kids over to discuss their ridiculously depressing past lives... Well. You feel me. ]

[ So yeah!!! THIS IS IT!! Just for reference, I'm putting a "Start" (ie: for people getting to the party if you wanna awkwardly greet people ~~or so you can handwave that too~~) and then just saying like "later" or whatever for Ryan's big heck up, you guys are free to start threads whenever/wherever just say when in the subject if you wanna. (so like, 3DMG showing offs and PS3 fun times, etc. go crazy!!) ]

[ Ellie, you're seriously creeping him out here. But Ryan knows better than to say no, even if she's making no real sense at all... ]

[ She waits for him just outside the room and nods at the door. ]

[ Gosh so rude, she didn't say "please" or anything ]

[ Ryan does as she says, though he does actually choose to try and have a backbone right now. ]

If this is about the titan thing-- I didn't run this by you because I knew it was just about me and Bertholdt. I talked to him about it beforehand, too.

[ She sighs heavily. Not an exasperated sigh! Almost a regretful one. MAYBE SHE'S NOT MAD? ]

[ Nope wait she's slamming her leg into the back of Ryan's in an attempt to kick his feet out from under him, never mind ]

[ WHOOPS SURE DID GET FLIPPED ON THE GROUND WITH A PRETTY BIG

[ THUNK. ]

[ Legs over his head, ass in the air like, damn. ]

[ Well this is one way for her to be taller than you, Ryan. HEYOOOOOOO. Don't mind her while she admires her handiwork. ]

First: it's not just about you and Bertholdt. Whether you mention me or not, we were in it together. Admitting to anything puts you - and me - in danger when other people start remembering. In case it isn't obvious to you by now, we were not good people.

[ Yeah, don't mind Ryan, he's just gonna stay down. And think about what he's done. And talk to Annie like that. ]

Even if... [ He would've denied it before, but it's getting harder to. ] Even if that's true, we can't let ourselves make the same mistakes they did. Just because we weren't good people then doesn't mean we should make the same mistakes from before, too.

I wasn't planning on eating Alan this time around. I already have 'not repeating mistakes' covered.

[ Ryan isn't the only one who can drop bombs. AT LEAST ELLIE'S IS SMALLER. (SHORT JOKE.) ]

That doesn't mean we should have to pay for the mistakes the other us made. What if there's worse to be remembered? Things bad enough to make people think we should be eliminated before we can do anything like it again?

Oh.

[ That's... definitely a big one. Ryan stays quiet for a minute, thinking it through. He pauses here and there, trying to find the words to-- well, it's hard, ok. ]

I don't... I don't think any of our friends would think that. I want to be honest with them. They deserve the truth, even if... what we did back then turns out to be... that bad.

Then you'd better hope friends stay friends, hadn't you. They're kids. They won't think things through. Especially the louder ones.

[ MORE SIGHING. She debates using Ryan's overturned legs as a chair for a moment before sitting on the floor beside him instead.

Speaking of louder ones. What do you remember about Eren?

I know. But it's because they're kids... I think they're honestly more likely to give people a chance than anything.

[ It's okay, Ellie. Here on his back, he's still looking up to you. Y'know he's surprisingly dexterous for a big guy ;^) ]

He... he scared the hell out of me. Reiner. Only sometimes, but... I remember he talked about killing titans. Often.

[ But they were still friends somehow? And Eren was a titan? It doesn't really make sense. ]

[ Hrrrm. She's quiet for a few seconds - it's hard to put things into words when you don't know what the fuck is going on. ]

Do you remember him being significant? When Annie saw there was another titan person in the walls, there was... I don't know. A feeling. Stronger than excitement. It's hard to explain.

Hmm... yeah, I think so. I remember seeing Eren coming out of the neck of his titan for the first time. Or I mean, it must have been the first time, because... It felt like it was important. But I don't exactly know why.

[ He's still on the floor. just chillin'. This is too important to stand now. ]

[ This probably looks like some weird-ass yoga session to any outside observers. GOTTA KEEP THOSE ARMOUR PLATES LIMBER, RIGHT RYAN ]

So you don't know why, either. And I don't think he does. You know what he's like - even if he didn't bring it up, you'd be able to tell something was on his mind.

It makes me wonder if that's why I ate him. Maybe titans can absorb power by eating each other? Except he remembers getting eaten by a different titan. One with a beard. So...

[ Shrug, shrug. This is bothering her a lot. Not least because logically, if Eren got eaten twice, he survived it at least once. If she were in Alan's place, Ellie would be quite happy to hear that she might not have met an awful death inside a titan's stomach.

But she can't say anything. Because cagey little scummy shit who's putting her own safety first. As always. ]

Yeah, he'd probably tell someone if it was like that.

[ Clearly the secret to staying limber enough for 3DMG is floor yoga and flips. ~~Ryan has to toss someone so he'll remember Eren tossing back.~~ ]

I dunno... I mean, you and I were on the same side back then, but I don't remember anything like that. Yet. And I know... when Reiner told Eren about being the 'Armored Titan,' it kinda fell flat. Maybe he knew? [ He sighs. Memories, why you gotta be so vague. All Ryan wants to do is help... everyone... ]

Then there's Alan saying he remembered dying. But if he was a titan, wouldn't that not make any sense? Unless you can stop being a titan somehow, I doubt it...

Hm. If Eren already knew, it's safe to say other people did, too.

[ Because Eren. NOT THE BRIGHTEST OF CHILDREN. ]

It would be nice if all this could start making sense some time soon. The only complete memories I have are the bad ones.

Yeah, I've never been the best at keeping secrets, so I don't think Reiner was, either.

[ Without Armin, Eren's just a lost child, let's be honest. ]

I know what you mean... Even if it's bad, I'd feel a little better about all these memories if I wasn't sure we were missing something important.

[ But then, Ryan's got the whole soldier/warrior problem going on too, so we all know how well that's gonna go. ]
