let's play cops and drug dealing robbers!

Who: Anyone around/in Locke City High School
When: 5th period
Where: Locke City High
What: DRUG BUST.

[It's just about that time. Numerous cops were gathered outside the high school. They were now ready and waiting for the commanding officer's order to move in. The cop in command for the bust itself stands ahead of the rest while glancing at his watch. Almost time. Just less than a minute to go and they could move in. Their orders were clear: take in anyone mentioned in Aurion's report AND search and/or apprehend several suspicious individuals outside of that report. Use of force is approved should they resist.

The second hand finally strikes the golden 12 on the officer's watch. Time to move in. He puts down his hand and gives the order to start closing in. Instantly, the police force begins to approach the high school.]

((ooc: and thus starts the drug bust! feel free to npc your own cops if you tag into this!! and a note i forgot to mention: anyone arrested will be officially known to be part of the numbers club but they will get released within a day or so thanks to karl 's interference))

Lyall couldn't have hidden his shock if he'd wanted to, and he didn't even bother to try. "Richard?" he exclaimed, not sure whether to be furious or disappointed. He thought he was probably both. He'd let himself be convinced that this man was on their side, was actually who he said he was, and now... here he was. Proving everything was a lie.

Rubbing at his wrist still, more because he was too shocked and unhappy to realize he hadn't stopped, Lyall ignored the question. Obviously he was fine. "You're police? Your 'friends on the force'? Were your bloody coworkers?"

The attempt at hiding his accent just went out the window, too.

That was a hint Lyall could easily take. He wasn't stupid. Just angry. So he shut his mouth, took a moment and a deep breath, then said, "Of course. And I will want that ride." And explanation. There had better be a good one.

He sat at the desk opposite Richard-- Karl? Was his name Karl, really?-- and took up the pen to hurriedly fill in what blanks were there for him. "I hope whatever this whole mess was turned out worth it for you," was his annoyed-sounding and still quite British comment as he signed his name at the bottom of the first form. He wasn't up to keeping his emotions and accent in check at the same time, after this day.

It didn't take too terribly long to finish signing everything up, at least. Longer than Lyall would have liked, given his burning desire for answers, and almost stronger burning desire to go home and bloody well eat something, but not as long as it could have taken. He finished his final signature with a flourish that is more "thank god" than anything else, and pushed both pen and paper towards Richard. Karl..

"There. Is there anything else I must go through before I can go home? Or is that is?" Yes, he could indeed hold onto his annoyance for as long as it took to sign forms. And longer, too.

"Thank you." The thanks was a bit stiff, but it was there. He levered himself up, glad to find the aches of sitting in one place all day already fading-- part of his werewolf ability to heal from broken bones, or just relief to be finally let go, and able to move around?-- to follow him out.

They couldn't actually talk until the car, anyway, and talking was what he really wanted to be doing right now. Or more specifically, getting answers.

Lyall merely looked impatient and irritable while he waited. It probably wasn't a surprise to any of the other officers about; he'd been officially told he'd been wrongfully accused and left in an office cuffed to a chair all day, and accosted by dogs and individuals asking him useless questions. He had every right to be irritable.

He did try to throttle it down again once they were outside, at least, following in the man's wake. "So I suppose I ought to get used to the new name," he began once they reached the car.

"Why would that be? Isn't the 'operation' over with, now?" He dropped himself a little gracelessly into the passenger side, but at least he resisted the tiredly petulant urge to slam the door. "There are people who deserve to know about this, Karl." There was only a slight emphasis on the proper name. He could keep the right one when he needed to, but right now? It was just them.

"Ugh." Lyall looked disgusted by that. He buckled himself in, still looking sour. "You mean they think there are more 'drugs' on campus... or want you to keep an eye on people like me? I still think it would be better if the network knew. Not only as a potential ally, but also a potential person to avoid mentioning things around in person. Especially with your rank, mister superintendent." Or whatever that title had been. There was a tiny bit of sarcasm there, too. He did stoop to it now and then.

And Lyall, despite his irritation, wrapped his hand around the armrest of the seat in surprise at the sudden red light, like a handle. "Well. That's good to know. If you're even telling the truth. How much can I believe from you, Karl? You certainly managed to fool me, and I've worked with you for over a year now, and even came to you with suspicions." There was less irritation and more a sense of betrayal, there. A little part of him could understand-- but the rest of him was upset that a friend had lied to him for so long.

"Forgive me for not being sympathetic," Lyall grumbled at him, holding a bit tighter onto the door handle to keep from being jostled about. "It isn't as if some of us aren't perfectly capable of keeping secrets." He hadn't told anyone about Nick, after all, had he?

"Just don't expect a lot of trust, if you can't come clean with something this important, when you're knee-deep in the other side of all this rot," he finished.
professorwolf: (doubtful)

[personal profile] professorwolf 2014-01-22 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
"I see." Lyall had nothing more to say to that, really, between holding on-- thank god for seatbelts, and for driving with a police officer-- and being totally unable to imagine living like that. He rallied as the school came in sight. "You still need to tell the network. Exactly for that reason. Knowing there's someone that high up in the police corps... it's something that needs to be shared."
professorwolf: (specs-sideeye)

[personal profile] professorwolf 2014-01-27 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
"That's not true. I think the more is known about you, the better," Lyall countered grimly. "You are an important person in the hierarchy, you have the ear of important people, and you have eyes where no one else does. People need to know you have a chance of being on their side, if they get in trouble."

He narrowed his eyes at Karl sidelong. Their friendship seemed ruined, at this point, anyway, so.... "If you don't tell them, I will."
