What: Finishing up the group project from hell
Warnings: Stupid amounts of scrambling, leftovers and energy drinks


She had barely enough time to shower the smell of her parents' giant dog away (which she quickly did after Mimi pitched a fit) and make something resembling decent dinner for the three with the large amount of leftovers she was sent home with, but somehow Elly managed. It was the least she could do, especially after being unavailable for most of the week to get things done. She wouldn't admit that it was part of an underhanded plan to get rid of the food that had been so quickly pushed upon; simply an act out of the kindness of her own heart.

Laptop rested on the coffee table, the redhead made her way to the couch, deflating for the short amount of time that she could before Daniel got there. She felt like she had been running non-stop since Wednesday, and to say that she was tired was an understatement. Tipping her head back, she called through the apartment, "Food's ready if you want to eat," before leaning toward her laptop and going over her notes.

They really shouldn't have put this off. It was going to be a long night.

She gives a hiss at the spraying before she picks up the meat and bounds off the table, taking it with her to a corner of the room and munching on it defiantly. This is her food now!

Normally, sure, she would probably let the cat have it. However, there was a hard lesson here, and Elly would storm over, bending over the cat and lifting the piece of turkey from the floor. "This is people food. Not Mimi's food. Your food is over there." She pointed toward her bowl.

The resulting sound may be the saddest, most distressed cat sound Elly will have heard in her life.

"But it's not fair!"

Her head is low, brushing up against the ground. Is she... starting to cry?

"You made yummy smelling food for everybody but me! I want to eat with you too!"

And suddenly Elly remembered a time when her cat couldn't talk and wasn't able to guilt trip her as easily. She took a breath, trying to keep her resolve up. It was just a cat. "I know, and I'm sorry. But if I give you this then you'll get fat."

Stay strong, Elly.

"But I don't want to eat mushy food! I want what Elly's having!" It smelled like some kind of bird - and it probably resembled those pigeons she'd been able to get every once in a while more so than the (admittedly delicious but still) canned food that Elly provided her with. Sometimes a kitty just really wants to sink her teeth into something!

Thinking for a moment, Elly smiled down at her. "I can start getting you dry food too, if you want." That was a change from her usual 'mushy food', wasn't it? "I can even get flavors that are like what I eat."

"It's still not the same!" This is apparently very important to her!

Elly was stuck. She felt bad to be sure, but she also wanted to stick to her guns. "What if I mix the two? That way I'm still making something special for you, but it won't make you sick."

"It's not gonna make me sick!" Probably. She'd eaten random scraps before, so why would it matter now?

"But I don't want to take that chance." She frowned, taking the scraps and rinsing them off. "If you got sick, I'd have to take you to the vet, and I would be very sad."

She hisses again at the mention of the vet. "I don't want to go there! I just want to eat the bird!"

[worldmother]

"But some things can make you sick if you eat them. I'm just trying to look out for you." Not that Mimi was as dumb as her parents' dog when it came to eating scraps. She thought.

She wasn't doing this cat logic thing very well.

"Besides, I get you special food from the store. It's good for you!"

"But it doesn't taste as good!"

Food that's good for you, food that's bad for you-- as long as it tastes good and doesn't make her vomit, she'll like it just fine.

[worldmother]

"I can try getting you a different brand." She didn't really know what tasted good to cats, so she only assumed that chicken flavor would work. "Maybe some with fish in it?"

"That just means it's going to be gooey. I want real fish!"
