What: Going to try and talk to the guy making the snake statues.

Marisa parked a block or so away in her newly reborn truck (The engine didn't make that rattling sound when she shifted gears anymore!), after picking up a few people who had needed rides. To those of you who got to ride in this amazing vehicle: the seats are lumpy, it smells like stale fast food and motor oil, and there are drifts of fast food receipts on the floor and seats. It makes various strange noises while driving, the right window won't roll all the way up, and the radio only picks up two stations (country music and NPR).

But it gets you to where you need to go pretty reliably, at least.

After any threads of people insulting her spirit animal, Marisa strode over to Bakura and the rest, broom on her shoulder and Mini-Hakkero in her pocket.

Britany wound up being one of the people Marisa picked up on the way...

"... So, how much time did you put into fixing this after ramming the snake?"

"Week or two. A guy on the network did it for free. Why?"

"... Are you sure it's fine? Some of those noises..."

She waved off the concern absent-mindedly, "It's fiiiiine. It's made noises like that since forever ago!"

"I do say so, and anyone who disses on the truck can walk."

"Right."

"Got any plans for if those snake statues show back up, animated and running?"

"I'm kind of the last ditch effort. My plan is to let everyone else take a whack at 'em, and if they're still standing I will blow them to tiny bits and HOPEFULLY not drop the ceiling on us all."

"... Makes me wish I knew how to work any of my spells..."

She actually fully gave Britany her attention for the first time.

"You knew magic too? I had you pegged as more of the computer-hacker type."

"Well... Okay, from what I'm getting, it's more like my spells were computer programs, sort of? I haven't pieced together the details yet... But there's symbols for each spell, and you input them into a different device - like my collar - somehow to create the effect. Only problem is, I haven't quite gotten to piecing it together to actually do anything."

"Probably some crucial bit you haven't remembered yet."

She slumped in the seat a bit, "The story of our lives, isn't it?"

"Yup."

Rita sighed. "But right now... All I've got for sure is my eyes, my ears, and the network."

I just figure we're already risking our lives here on this little adventure - no need for the getaway to be just as dangerous.

Chris also snagged a ride.

"For god's sake, turn the radio back to NPR."

Marisa did no such thing, countering with "No way, this song rocks!"

Chris pulled down her fleece hat over her eyes, groaning. It did nothing to help the onslaught of country music. Nothing at all.

Marisa stifled a snicker. "When we're in your car, you can choose the station."

"If I ever get a car, I'm going to get one that I can bluetooth to my phone so I can listen to 80s speed metal the whole damn time, that's what I'm gonna do," she groaned.
