My sister is pretty rattled about the bombing. Can't blame her there. She's been looking into leaving the city, I think her bosses would be okay with that. Mom's said she and Val are welcome at her house until they can find somewhere else. [Mom did not mention if he was welcome, but Jules kind of expected that.]

But the lease on the apartment's still good for another year. Word of Cece is that if she goes and I insist on staying, she'll keep signing the checks for it if I get someone to take the other room. [otherwise he'd fill it with sick pigeons.] She wants to approve whoever that is. I can probably talk her out of that! ...Still. It's a two-bedroom one bath apartment, kitchen included, fourth floor, pretty quiet and decent-looking. And by most accounts I'm a good roommate. If I can get my hands on a motorcycle I can be your ride, even. Hit me up if you're interested, all right?

What else... Ah, I run for exercise a lot and treadmills are boring, so I hit parks and trails and things. Anyone else do that? We should meet up and run together! With all this going on I get a little uneasy going off some places by myself.

Hmm, yeah... I don't go to the uni, but I'm around there a lot.

I'll bet! But I've got pretty startling endurance these days. It's harder to get tired, and I think I can't run out of breath anymore.

Would the move-in date have to be the first of December?

[Considering that she will need a place by the middle of February, and considering the problems that she has seen other number-owners having due to echoes... It might be good for that place to be with another numbers person, as she is not sure if she could afford something of her own, especially should she become unable to work. She does have some savings, but those only reach so far. Sure, more information would be needed for her to decide that this is really a good idea, but colour her interested.]

Maybe so! It all depends, I don't wanna commit to anything too fast, you know? I'd like to avoid too harsh of a personality conflict - I'm upbeat and energetic, after all, and that's proved a little wearing for some people!

Which isn't to say "no", but we should talk in person a few times, right?

It got bad enough to want to leave, huh?

It's upsetting! There's talk about terrorism, and all that... No one's happy about that bombing. It doesn't seem to have ended up a New York thing, where everyone's kind of traumatized and presses together and goes to find someone to attack... But that doesn't mean it's nothing, either.

She's in on this but doesn't know anything about what that was about, any more than I do. And my niece, her daughter, she's not quite four years old.

[Julien sighs unhappily.]

There's only so much someone can logically take without knowing the kinds of things we do.

Even with knowing the kinds of things we do. The only thing keeping her here is... me.

[and that's not enough. And that's not enough! He has to stop for a moment. Julien hadn't thought about it like that before. His sister all but raised him, especially when their dad cut contact with the divorce and their mom started getting distant on him. She'd taken care of him.

But her daughter means more. No, he tells himself, it's more complicated than that, he's two decades older than Val and he's lived away from Cece before, there were those years when she'd been at uni for her master's, those years when he was in college, that space between college and coming to Locke.

I do a bit of jogging after school when I'm able. I'd love to have someone to run with.

Mostly in the park or close to home. I live in a safer neighborhood, so I can go where I want, really.

I try to go for a jog at least once a week. :) Recommend any good trails?

Cool! Well the ones at Freedom Park're pretty good. It's on the older side, a little ways out there, part of it's on a boardwalk since it's a swamp. Now that the weather's turned it's pretty nice, it was less pleasant in the summer. You get families taking walks sometimes.
