Off duty [Action/Video]

The police have been busy as of late, what with the party noise violations (those monsters are noisy okay?), general watchfulness for eco-terrorists, and the detonation of weapon grade magic spells within city limits. Not Angela, though. She's off duty right now, having finally snagged a free weekend just in time for the Locke City Leprechauns to play against the Chicago Bears. She is watching the game from a sports bar downtown.

This bar, The Three Brake Shoes (The origin of the name is a source of much speculation, which the owner encourages for the notoriety.), is in downtown Locke City and just two blocks from the Police Station. While that actually discourages some customers, what it DOES do is encourage off duty cops to drink there, and no one can drink like an off duty police officer who has seen something they want to forget.

It's been busy lately.

Angela herself is not in drinking-to-forget mode though. She's got her team t-shirt on and is arranged with some fellow fans so that they can see and shout at the TV. The Leprechauns are on FIRE tonight, and so Angela is in a good mood!

[Video, later. Who is this lady you've never actually seen the face of before because she's always used text up to now? She looks...a little buzzed, and is somewhere dark. Probably walking down a street at night.]

I think we got off on the wrong foot. Blah blah blah police vs numbers. We're all just regular folks though, right? Or at least all of you used to be regular. I used to be regular too.

So let's be regular. What're you all into? Any other 'Chauns fans?

[OOC: So I got mod permission to make up Locke City's football team. My rough draft is that they are the Locke City Leprechauns, they have green and gold uniforms, they're frustrating for fans because their skill level is sometimes really good but they're really inconsistent about it and sometimes just fuck up horribly, and that ThunderCorp shelled out to help build their stadium in exchange for having their company name plastered on the side. Feel free to offer further suggestions along with your tags! Looking for things like famous players, etc.]

[Nick's been a frequent visitor to the bar, both on game nights and any other time of the week when he's off duty, for a few years, pretty much since he first moved there. For the past couple of months, he's been more scarce - except on game nights.

He's sans his partner, as he usually is when the Leprechauns are playing, considering Yuji isn't really a sports guy. But he's got plenty of other friends on the force, and he's there in the thick of them with his own team shirt on, cheering and drinking beer.]

I am definitely winning money this week; just another touchdown and a field goal, and I'm golden!

[This more or less mirrored Angela's relationship with the bar. She sat down from her standing cheer of a particularly inspired play and glanced curiously at Nick.]

What'd you bet on?

[Nick grins at her, taking another drink of his beer.]

That they'd win, of course. But the odds weren't good enough on that, so I bet on a minimum score.

Shou was actually a well-known face around the police station, whether it was because of his driving, his ability to get into fights for saying good morning, or the fact that he is often delivering papers and files that needed to be copied, signed and brought back to the law office he worked for. So him popping into the bar wasn't actually out of the ordinary. A few officers gave him a glance - mostly because he dressed better than any self-respecting office clerk should dress - but most of them knew that he had money.

After all, no file clerk would be able to afford a mirror of that orange car he drove around in.

So in Shou was, wiggling through the officers and ordering a whiskey with his accented English.

Angela had seen him around the station a few times, but hadn't really paid him any attention. Today though, she was intensely aware of his presence the second he walked into the bar. No one else seemed to be paying attention to it, but this...this smug prick was just oozing grace and confidence like an oil tanker on a coral reef. Angela felt stupider and dirtier by comparison just from being in the same room as him. She gritted her teeth an tried to focus more on the game than she was on the urge to rearrange his stupid face. He hadn't even SAID anything to her yet for fuck's sake.

Then he kind of bumped her leg as he floated by her towards the bar and, unable to catch herself, Angela snapped "You wanna watch where you're going, dipshit?"

Holy cow where did THAT come from?

"Ah?" Shou turned, glanced at her and smiled. It was a fairly innocent smile, with a hint of confusion and genuine goofiness that sort of is part of who he was. He wasn't sure why the pretty officer snapped at him, but maybe he was disturbing this 'pasttime' that she was involved in.
