Why'd it have to be snakes? [closed log]
Who: Alex (
moarnomsplz), Yuji (
sassymaru), Nick (
detectivetroll), Ray (
synonymouswithdookie), Shou (
ursoreckless), Regina (
acequeen), Anthony (
scramasax), possibly Lyall (
professorwolf) and Monroe (
grimmopedia) for tracking
Where: Dead District
When: October 21st, evening-ish
What: Snake fightin'!
When Yuji and Nick had run into one of the snake statues, it was obvious that it was too much for them to handle. All right, so maybe they'd gone looking for it on purpose. But that purpose had been served, and now they knew what the snakes looked like, and some of how they moved.
So he'd put up a post on the network, explaining what he and Yuji had seen and that it was really, really unlikely that the two of them could take it on successfully. Still, he wanted to get rid of it, so he'd asked for anyone who would be willing to team up to help get rid of it - either in tracking it down, actually fighting it, or dealing with the aftermath, whether that be medical attention or a quick getaway.
They'd arranged a time and a meeting place in the Dead District, in an area where most of the sightings had been.
Alex, Yuji, and Nick are already there, having just finished work - a shift where Alex was interning with them, and that'd led to him coming along. Nick's brought his gun, of course, but there's odder weapons with him as well: an eight-foot bullwhip is attached to his belt, coiled at his hip, and there's a somewhat strange weapon resting against his leg, courtesy of his latest pulse.
Once everyone arrives, it'll be snake hunting time.

He doesn't know if his tail will be any use against the stone snakes. It's too risky to grow it just yet, anyway.
He rolls his eyes at Yuji's pun, though he can't help but laugh, too.
"I probably, lee, would have gone for the inn, Indiana Jones joke, myself."

Then he gives Yuji a look, even if it's partially amused. "You've been waiting to do those all day, haven't you? You might as well get them all out before we start hunting down the thing."
Nick's nervous, too, though he's hiding it well with humor. He's never gone up against something that he wasn't sure they could beat before.

He waves his good hand. While the shoulder has healed well enough for work again, there are still a few stitches. And it still pulls sometimes, if he moves it too much. If they're going to be fighting things, there's going to be plenty of movement coming up.
His own expression is skeptical, returning Nick's Look. "Maybe. I can't make half of them because of innocent ears."
Confidence through vague humor. That's the way of things.
ugh, sorry for slowness
"You guys aren't going-ing to be scandalized, lize-duh, if I end up swearing during the fight, are you?"
Joking around definitely seems like a good way to prove to himself he's not scared. If he were really scared, he wouldn't be able to laugh... right?
no worries! <3 now it's my turn to apologize >.<
But as long as Alex isn't upset by it, Nick'll continue to be amused at it.
"Nah, swear all you want. Giant moving statues always gets you a free pass on curse words."
Welcome to the club of 'joking to deflect fear,' man. It's not as cool of a club as the Numbers, but still pretty good company. It's practically standard for cops.
