[Luci's voice comes on over the network, and she sounds pretty excited.]

I got something back! Not just some vague feeling or a maybe memory, but an actual power! This is completely unexpected! I didn't think in my wildest dreams that I'd be able to use magic or anything like that, especially like this!

It started earlier, and since then, through lots of experimentation, I've been able to figure out the following: I can make things brighter, and I mean REALLY bright, but not darker; I can make little balls of light in my hands, but I'm not sure if they just stay there or if I can do anything with them--I really don't want to accidentally break something in my room; also, this--

[The video turns on to a bright, glowing blond's face. And arms. And yeah everything. It's almost like there are dancing lights underneath her skin. Meet Luci, resident goody two-shoes, overachiever, and now human disco ball.]

Which is really cool, but I haven't actually figured out how to turn it off yet. So, um, help? Anyone?

[She shakes her head.]

Never heard of her. Was hers anything like this?

Not if you're serious about illuminating things, or making something out of light. Controlling it, I guess?

Controlling it, definitely. I feel like I could do something with it, other than rent myself out at parties like other people have suggested. Although that could be fun. Luci, the human disco ball. That would probably require me to dance, though, and I'm not very good at that.

I'm not either, and those arcade dance consoles don't count. Still, you probably feel that way for a reason. We all have at one point or another, I bet... it's just that figuring out how to stop glowing might be the first step to finding out why.

Probably. Although Homecoming is coming up.

[She pauses, waits for any kind of response, and smirks.]

I'm kidding. Hmm, let's see. Let's think outside the box here...

[ A kind of amused snort. ]

Be careful, schools are so competitive over that kind of stuff. And I don't think anybody could beat a human disco ball...

[ The sound of a pen tapping. ]

There's no real rhyme or reason to why the pulses or echoes happen... sometimes I feel like it's because we experience similar things. To what we get 'back'.

But I would be twirling a flag in the parade and glowing. Think how cool that would be.

[Okay seriously now.]

Well, I was able to do something similar shortly after going to Tuning Towers, but I didn't make myself glow. I made a ball of light. So what if... ...oh that could work, but how would I...

[She's making hand gestures and whispering to herself.]

Colorguard, even...

[ Focus, focus. ]

...Did you finally think of something?

Yes! But I'm not sure how the mechanics would work.

So when I first made a light ball, it stayed stationary at my hand. At first, I couldn't even get it to completely form up, the energy just stayed at my fingertips. Once I managed to figure out how to visualize releasing it, it took shape. Maybe if I apply the same concept here, that might work...

So it's like just thinking about doing something versus a real concept of it?

Well, in thinking about it, you can figure out the concept behind it. It's simple, really.

I guess I meant more like... just thinking about it and then bringing it to life, but yeah, I get what you mean.

Right! I should probably try it instead of talking about it, huh?

[There's a bit of a pause, then a flash and a very alarmed "ahh!" before the camera moves erratically. Her voice comes from the side.]

Oh my gosh it worked! But now what do I do?

[ Banagher nearly jumps, leaning forward as though that'll help him see at any other angle. ]

H-Hey! ..."What do you do"? What happened?

Oh, sorry, give me just a second!

[The camera shifts again, a hand moving over it at one point, before she directs it at a stuffed rabbit, which appears to be glowing. She then tilts her head in the direction of the camera. Someone's glow free.]

I wasn't sure it was going to work, but I managed to displace it a few feet, at least. And it isn't burning my house down, so whatever energy is causing it is definitely not thermal. This is really fascinating!

No way! You transferred it?

[ Now he looks genuinely surprised at the outcome. ]

Considering it's in a stuffed toy now, that sends the bioluminescence theory up in smoke, doesn't it?

Somehow! Trust me, I'm just as surprised that I managed it as you!

[She walks over and tentatively pokes the rabbit. Nothing really happens.]

Feels fine, too. Definitely not bioluminescence, but what would it be?

You've really got me now, I have no idea where to even start! That's something else, if you can control light that's not even attached to you anymore.

[ Maybe not at this precise moment, but when faced with a glowing stuffed animal... ]

This obviously warrants further investigation, but I kind of like Biggles and don't want to cut him op--ahh it went away!

[She directs the camera back at the rabbit. He appears to be floppy and normal again.]

So there's that. If I manage to direct it on something, it isn't as long-lasting. Now I'm really perplexed. I know I didn't do anything that time.

[ Biggles... oh, oop. There it went. ]

Spoke too soon, huh? Maybe when it's separated from you it can't sustain itself. Or something like that.

[ BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY ]

It's actually pretty cool. And you're not glowing anymore, so mission accomplished?

[Biggles is her bff don't be hatin Banagh.]

That makes a lot of sense. And I guess so. I'll admit, that was a bit anticlimactic, all things considered.

[ Having Haro means he's incapable of hating all things mascot or bff-y. ]

I think I'd be okay settling for anticlimactic in this case!

I'm a bit disappointed, but sometimes these things are like that. You expect a big bang and instead get a tiny whimper.

Maybe next time?

There's the possibility. I do have to figure out if this is just a fluke or if this is a regular outcome. I'm no scientist, but it's good to know what to expect from one's abilities.
